Gps is more accurate than the speedometer in my car, therfore it is accurate enough for me to believe it when in my boat. I don't see how a couple guys with stopwatches would be more accurate, especially when factoring in reaction time and human error.

Disar is the winner!, The mystery is solved. I just did a run and turned up the trim tabs quite a bit. The results:
M445, 126.62amps (peak) 3727wp, 54.2mph!
The boat was running on the edge of stability, but now that I undertand what was holding me back I am going to dial in a bit more on the trim tabs and then also move the batteries forward until I get the right blend of speed and control.
