I haven't got a full run yet, I'll hopefully be going to the pond saturday, so I will see what my runtimes are like. I will hopefully pick up a smaller prop too. Last time it ran, it went for a good 5-7min before the battery deans connector solder unmelted, I know it would have gone longer too.

Should I have used a 's' bend in my stuffing tube? I have just a curve, I could prpbably redo the stuffing box. Is there a way to tell if it has too much friction? It seems smooth. Sorry for the long posts, i'm kind of new to the boat stuff so I have lots of questions. Thanks for putting up with me lol
Yes get a temp gun, you want your temps under 150f the cooler the better! I dont like alot of bends in my drive lines, so I dont use the S bends, but there is a boat in the club that has it and it seems to work fine, I guess thats up to the builder.

5-7minutes on that set up if things are getting that hot already I wouldnt try to go longer, thats askin for trouble! Mich. Manic will agree with me on this!

If your happy with the speed, shorten your run times. you may have to settle for 1-2 minutes tops.

K, yeah I guess a temp gun is a must then. I'm gonna try this weekend and will update you, see if we cant get this boat hooked up. Is there a way to tell if you have too much flex friction, besides too hard to turn? It spins smooth with little effort.

one thing I would check for is, see if the drive dog is rubbing on the strut you will see it if it has marks on it.

Ok, ran the boat today, got about 5 min of a good run before I snapped the flex cable, it broke just where it peaks up through the hull where it connects to the motor. I think it is time to go with a larger flex cable. The temps felt cool, but it had some flips where I had to go and flip it over so it had time to cool off. But it ran pretty strong other then the weak shaft lol.

I am running .098 to 1/8 stub shaft, any suggestions on what size. I kind of like the 1/8 inch props or does it matter if I went to 3/16?

Should I go with a gear drive set-up?

Would the team venom temp module work for electric. I've seen the one where you put the temp lead around the nitro motor, I thought I could just put the lead around the electric motor, will it work? The temps can be recalled so you can see the highest temp during a run. maybe this unit along with a regular temp gun so I could still check my esc and batteries?

use a .130 cable they have a step down shaft to fit 1/8 props. instead of going to a gear drive just get a motor with lower KV. I would change it to a straight shaft though just so it will ride just like a cracker box! (thats just me)

Could I use my existing strut for 1/8 shaft?

Not if you go to .130 cable you will need a 3/16 strut, and a 3/16 to 1/8 shaft to use 1/8 props.

I finially took some pics of my C-Box. I need a camera so I can film my runs. I have changed to a traxxas 3500kv BL motor, and use a maxamps 4000 mah battery. I have a silicone water jacket now. I may mod it some more and go with the Feiago L sized motor as jeepers sugested, I am just useing stuff from my cars for this boat.

by the way I'm running it in Redding, CA at simpson college pond.

Well finially got a vid. It was taken with our digital camera, so its not the best but its a vid nevertheless. I am pretty happy with how it runs, I'm running a 2 cell lipo, and am going to run a 3 cell soon.

Ok I'm stupid thank you for the info on how to find your boat, so how do you post a video on this page? I was under the impression that you could only post pictures.

If you notice that when you click on the link that it takes to you to a different website, photobucket. What you do is make your video and upload it somewhere, like photobucket, youtube or whatever, and then you make a hyperlink to it.

Well, I guess its time to upgrade my skimpy .098 flex cable to .130. I was running it and noticed a weird noise and brought it in, and opened the hatch and smoke came out, I was worried, then I noticed it was coming from the flex cable, I was releived that it wasn't an esc, well I finially got the cable out and saw that it was kinked. I guess I have too much power for a .098 cable, and I think my motor angle is too much for the cable causing unwanted friction, maybe that was the cause of failure. Well anyways, I will be upgrading my motor mount to the universal adjustible one, getting my motor lower and at a better angle, upgrading the stuffing tube and flex to .130 and stepped down prop shaft for 1/8 props, and a 3/16 strut.

On another note, this radio dosn't like to let me get out far, yet it seems to be fine when I run it in my rc truck. Everything in the boat is been ran in my truck with no glitching. Its Fm. I moved my receiver away from the motor wires but it didn't help. I had this radio in a less powerfull boat with no problems. Could it be the extra load from the amps its pulling causing low power to the receiver? I will be going spektrum soon, but until I can save up 100 bucks for a receiver I will be using what I got. I already have the module for my Tx.

I know my wires are long on the motor, I will be shorting them once I get a new motor for my rc truck.

Ok, got the new hardware in the mail today, so I will be spending the evening installing this stuff. I'm redoing the motor mount area so that the motor will be as low as possible. I forgot to order the motor coupler so, it will be until Steve gets back from vacation till I can drive it. (thanks steve for the stickers and super fast shipping!!!!!)
