F/S - Silver Brazed Flex Cables

I am now making silver brazed flex shafts. A few burned fingers but worth it. Thought about trying it with wire drives as well but not sure the wire can handle the heat without getting weak.

They are now on my site and I will be getting stuff in for the 1/4" cable x 1/4 shaft and they will be stepped down to 3/16" for the prop end for the big 10-12S animals out there.

They are on my site under Flex and Wire drives at the bottom.

Jeff, I'm surprised you haven't started making flex shafts for the EKOS. Heaven knows there are a lot people waiting on shafts from Venom.

Well I would just need to know the size of them. Bet it is all metric stuff. Which I can get as well.

I didn't realize that you can't send pics in PM, so here goes...

Slight parallax in the photo.

The dimensions are:
Length = 10”
Diameter of the flex: 3.18mm (1/8” I believe)
Prop shaft Length = 2.25”
Prop shaft Diameter = 4mm (for 4mm props).
End of shaft to drive dog (motor side of dog) = 1”

Of course there are two shafts in the boat (rotation as viewed from rear of boat):
Port side = clockwise
Starboard = counter clockwise

Has anyone tried to fit the 130 cable into the coupler to see if it fits? 130 cable is actually smaller than 130.

If someone would try that and if it fits then no problem. I have 4mm precision SS shaft.

I can get 1/8" in LH lay but not sure about RH lay.

How long are the threads?

After checking my 130 cable I think it should fit the coupler fine. I am getting 3.17/3.18 on the digi calipers. Tight is good anyway on a coupler. Do they only use one set screw on that coupler?

Let me know and I will order some RH cable and make these for anyone.

I don't have a 130 cable to try, but the stock one is not real tight in the teflon liner and only run once. My caliper reads .123 - .124

Thread length is 3/8"

Maybe I just make a kit to convert them...new couplers and drives and forget the old stuff.

The coupler is an inline version with TWO set screws on BOTH sides (motor and flex). 180 degrees apart. It has a larger diameter hole for the motor side, as the motor shaft is larger than the flex.

The coupler length is showing 20mm or .79" (on digi caliper)

Not sure if I would bother with the coupler. These motors are crap anyway and everyone is replacing them. Even Venom is talking about a "new" EKOS with different motors.

And they didn't even thank us for doing all of their R&D...

Ha...that is funny. Yes, I would upgrade motors with 5mm shafts and then run 150 cables or wire for better set ups.

You are correct. It is 4mm.
