Ok I have bought a navy 50A and i intend to use it in a Velocity Cat Clone with the stock motor and a traxxas 2080 servo and tactic 2.4ghz radio system with turnigy 1800mah 3s 30c batts. First question do I need to program this esc or will it come ready to go? Second question there are two leads to the rx coming out and one is for if you are using a bec do I absolutely need this I have never used one before but I mostly have run on road and off road? Can I just hook the esc up with the one lead? Is there any benefit to the extra bec?

Last time I used one, I didnt have to program it for my throttle range. But I got mine used and the person before my might have had the same radio or throttle range. One of those leads is for use with the internal BEC, but you must be using 12 or less nimh cells connected to power. I think the speedo is good 16 nimh cells if I remember right. Did you get the program card?

After thinking about it a bit more I bet you do have to program it for your throttle range. I just got lucky when I got mine. If you dont have the instructions for it let me look thru my library. I bet I have a copy saved.

Hi, i wish you had contacted me directly as i could have saved you some grief. When i listed this esc, i mentioned that it uses a proboat program card which is exactly the same as the more expensive jetti version. The extra wire on the esc is an accuss wire used for programming. You can get a card from steve for $20. That being said, i believe the program i last used was set at no brake, soft start up,timing for two pole motor and lipo with 3.2 v/s cuttoff. If this is not the case, you will need a program card.
