aaah! A fellow tc31 builder. You must have seen my build thread. Glad to see someone else interested in the thundercat! Which 580xl motor are you purchasing? I went with the castle motor because I didnt want any overheating issues. Not to say that you will, but I read a couple of other threads with guys who went through several different 580xl motors before finding the right combo. I really like that motor mount though! Good luck with your build!

yes it was my suggestions that dddmx3 go with a 11-12xl on 6s.preferably a 12 xl this should also keep amp draw down compared to a 4s setup.
this should give decent power for a 31" cat not knowing its weight.
on a other site it was suggested to use a ul-1 motor/esc. imo this would have been insufficient to power such a hull.
there has been a growing trend on some forums of people giving advice on running 8xls on 6s with turnigy 120a esc,s, thought i would try and save dddmx3 from there stupidity by giving him a reasonably reliable setup for the $$$ he had to spend.

no problem look at they other guys threads and then ask any needed questions, the key to getting decent speed from your boat will be setup.
you should see 50mph out of that setup with out to much trouble.
just start with a smaller prop and work your way up .

i was thinking of using the normal plastic prop it came with...

**for now off coarse, then if everything goes good then get same prop but metal(:

Looks good! Someday I would like to do one of these conversions. I wish I kept my Shockwave 36.

Forget any plastic prop, what is the weight of the bare hull, are you looking for speed or more of a sport set up?

i will give my experience with plastic props others may have had better luck.
i brought a stack of plastic props a few years ago to use as test props, try and get a idea on what prop may suit by using a plastic then once i worked out what was close replace it with a metal one.
problem was every plastic prop i tried snapped a blade of every time i got past half throttle, not sure if it was just them being cheap props or the power/rpm of motor.
o.s.e sells carbon props that are relatively cheap and don't need sharpening or balancing, mite be worth getting a few
