    need a little help

Well i finally put her on the water my traxxas villian that is. Run time was about 15min awesome in my opinion a little adjustments on the struts i love the graupner props tempetures were cool but its about 50 degrees here i am pleased so far. Now my question is will i get more speed with lipos and more run time ive got my eye on 5000mah 30c 2cells. The boat is completely stock except for the props. and a cooling system

Which villian is it, does it have an esc or msc? If you do some lipos make sure to get a cutoff.

My Villain really woke up with two 7-cell NIMH's, watch your temps and make sure you have good connectors.

Now I'm confused, the Traxxas EVX-2 Marine esc that I have which I bought as a replacement says on the box and manual that it's good for 6-14 cells up to 16.8 volts.
But it says 14.4 volts on the face of it.
But now looking on the Traxxas website it looks like the EVX-2's show for 16.8 volts and the EVX-2 Marine only shows good for 14.4 volts.
So I don't know what they have done maybe should ask on the Traxxas forums.

I also tried the Monster Max motors, with Octura props on 14 cells and she just about jumped right out of the water. But even with water cooling on the brushes I've never seen a motor eat brushes so fast. They were too much maintenance and ran pretty hot so I went back to stock motors.

Now it's a recovery boat so it's back to stock props and gearing but I'm still running on 14 cells.

Nice paint, it has the wet look
Yeah the 3015 was the original one I had in my boat as well, there is a little info here

I was reading on the Traxxas forum and it sounds like the Esc's can handle 14 cells, just keep an eye on your temps.
And back to your original question you can use use a pair of 2s lipo's but you will have to add a low voltage cutoff like this:
                http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...de-liposhld-32

You could try the Monster Max motors, I ran them with 14 cells but it sounds like they work better with 12 that could have been the cause of my brush problems.

I believe the Traxxas ESC part# 3015 has been replaced by Traxxas part# 3021. The original one was orange while the newer one is blue.

The correct replacement part# is 3020!

The newer ones are the EVX-2 and EVX-2 marine (3020). The confusion is that they are the same esc but the EVX-2 is listed for 6-14 cells and the marine is 6-12 cells.
The 3020 I have says good for 14 cells but if you look at them now only rated for 12.

Maybe they figure the air cooled heat sinks handle heat better than the water cooled or boat drivers tend to spend more time at WOT than the trucks.

                      BRIAN-
I also added a second water pickup and exit to give the motors and esc separate cooling as well as adding another water cooled heatsink to the second bank of FETS on the esc.
