REALLY INTERESTED IN SETTING UP MY FIRST CAT HULL..HAVE BEEN SEARCHING MANY VIDS ON SOME CRAZY BUILDS THAT ARE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE...ALSO SEEN MANY BLOWOVERS AND JUST FLAT OUT CRAPPY HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS ON SOME OF THEM..LOOKING TO SPEND NOT MORE THAN 850.00 ON A SINGLE MOTOR BRUSHLESS CAT...I DO WANT TO SHOOT FOR 70MPH THOUGH...THE BK MARINE BANDIT S OR M AND THE H&M AGITATOR HAVE CAUGHT MY EYE THE MOST...ANY SUGGESTIONS OR SETUP IDEAS WOULD BE HELPFUL..SOMETHING THAT CAN HANDLE A SOME CHOP AND TURN AT MORE THAN 30MPH WOULD BE GOOD TOO..LOVE THE HPR 06 BUT I CANNOT AFFORD TO DO ANYTHING WITH TWINS FOR POWER

I vote for an Aeromarine Sprintcat, or a Mean Machine. Both will fly and corner like on rails!

real nice ryan..you are daring to be running in that channel..i need much more room to compensate for driver error...the stretch rigger reminds me of a water bug zig zagging around its nuts

[Fluid]

A reliable 70 mph will be tough on that budget. You should go 6S, and a hull at least 34" long. A Neu 1527/1.5D will give good speed but I'm not certain what ESC will be reliable for the amp draw needed. A Castle 180 or 240HV may work, a Schulze is preferred but either puts you out of the cost range.

Lowering your expectations to 55-60 mph makes it easier. The BK Bandit M and AM SprintCat are still good choices; if your water is usually pretty smooth then the MeanMachine will work if you are careful - the BBY cats not so much. The AM cats turn as good as any you will find, many of the German designs will not make tight turns because the tunnels are too narrow for scale reasons.

I have not run the setup, but from reports I've heard a Feiago 580/9L, 6S2P packs and an x450 or x458 should give speeds around 60 in the larger hulls. As for an ESC I cannot say, a Hydra 240LV might work but I prefer not to use any ESC at its upper voltage limit. Perhaps an ETTI or SeaKing.....

All of the above is for a reliable setup - I will not recommend the cheapest you can build, that IME is money wasted.

yeah maybe i was a tad bit optimistic on the speed and the money..i hear you on the cheaper side of things too...good info about the german hulls there..i was wondering why a lot of the vids show straight ahead ballistic speed but relatively slow sliding turns...i want to go faster because all of my boats so far run in the mid to high fifties..real good info thanks a lot fluid

My son & I run a Mean Machine and we(I) also have a Twin Drive Jolly and Fluid is spot on about the turning capabilities! The MM will run almost wide open thru the turns for us but we don't have a lot of driving experience! The Jolly is narrower and doesn't --- although I have to say that economics is involved here! I have a lot more invested in the Jolly and quite honestly don't want to lose it!

Another issue is finding calm water..is the mean meachine that bad in chop? I do not want to be flipping aaalll the time...maybe i will go with fluid idea and get something a little larger in the 32-36 in ch range and spend a little more to power it past 60...so many choices and so little money! Fluid's comments are spot on...look at an H & M M1 Supercat for better cornering than their other cats, as another suggestion.
