Older Miss Budweiser Proboat FE conversion from Seattle

I purchased this off ebay a few months ago for my son for Christmas. We are just getting around to working on it. Info from the auction was very limited. The seller said it was his dads and he was selling it for him.
It looks like the first gen Proboat nitro version with a shaft drive. It was converted by Galaxy Hobby in Lynnwood, WA.
Best I can tell it was been done around 2004. Does anyone know anything about running with this motor ESC set up?
    Jeti Phasor 30-3 brushless motor
    Jeti JES 40-3P Opto ESC
Seems like it was run with 2 - 6cell NiMh packs.
The transom was reinforced, auto bailers installed and they removed the water cooling!!!!. Will this run cool enough? I'm thinking I need to reinstall the cooling system. Motor wasn't even water cooled. I plan on running this on 2 - 2s Lipo packs so I will need a voltage cut off for sure if I keep the current set up.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this set up?
    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Not sure on the motor but I would be suspect of the ESC 40 amp is too small. Kind of looks like they didn't know a lot about FE Hydros

I agree Jim. I did some pokin' around and it appears this motor/ESC combo were "state of the art" back in 2002!

Looks like they were designed to run together in aircraft to replace brushed set-ups.

The lack of water cooling concerns me and the motor and esc should be swapped out.
What do you want to do with it? Race? Sport running?
A Blackjack motor ans ESC would be a good one to drop into it.

Just sport running at this time. I was thinking the same way Jim, water cooling and BJ motor/ESC set up. Do you think it will be ok running the shaft drive or will I need to convert it to flex?

If you put a bigger and better motor in it those little plastic props will not last long
So you kinda have to choose a prop to fit the new motor also and if the shaft is 1/8 and the prop is under the boat a bigger prop might not fit anyway
I did a Llumar nitro conversion but it had the flex shaft to start with

The boat came with 3 or 4 metal props that fit. What motor set up did you put in your Llumar?
