    1527 1y ina 1/8 hydro?

i have a 1527 1y and tons of 4's packs30-50c rated . i was wondering if this motor on 8s 2p would get a 1/8 proboat up and going? if so what kinda amp draw should i exspect and speeds?

Please guys, i want to start this build. I just need to know if what i already have will be sufficient for what speeds i wanna see. Or will i (have to) to go with a larger ,lower kv motor w/ more voltage .

The 1527/1Y would be a little too hot for an 8th scale... usually folks use the 1527/1.5Y on 10s
the 1527/2D would be extremely hot already on 8s anything beyond that would be ESC hell.
You wanna keep your RPMs in the 25-30k so amps would be manageable.

Thanks ub hauled. I ran this motor on 8's with a power jazz 63 and it was great! I just wasnt sure an 8th scale would be too much hull for the motor.. I have a 200 amp esc for it?any one else? What kind SPEEDS WOULD I SEE AND AMP DRAW WITH THIS SET UP?

I know a lot of guys run that motor on 6s2p in 34" Aeromarine sprintcats. They are pretty heavy cats. They run low to mid sixties on 6s2p and 50mm plus props.

Why not go with the littlescreamers outrunner on 10 or 12s?

Wow, if we agree with what the others have already posted, why post again? Besides, you have already decided that the motor works fine on 8S (good luck with that!) so why do you want others to tell you it is a bad idea?

"others" am i missing someone? ummmm... i didnt know others felt thats the case unless stated by others.... sense when does two guys speek for an entire forum? just asking and trying to get as much input before i spend hundreds no thousands more on stuff i may not need... 8s on a 1527 1y is no big deal, my concern is in a larger hull as specified. so can you figure my amp draw and speeds as i originally asked?

Why post again. Because there are more people in this world MR Fluid that know boats, like WOLF said MORE INFORMATION BEFORE HE GOES AND SPENDS BIG BUCKS.

Well, how many guys do you think there are running 1/8 scale? Not many in reality. Maybe a dozen coast to coast and not all of them share here.

I wouldn't run the 1y on 8s unless it was in a rigger. That's just me. I won at the nats with that motor on 6s but not in an 1/8th scale. Why not throw the the ProBoat away and get a better hull for 6s? That ProBoat is never going to perform well enough to keep that motor from baking a speedo or some cells.

I'll add to what Jay said. Its not going to work. I watched Bill M. burn up 2 1527 1.5y motors on 10s in a cat. You think your 1y motor is going to do better in a heavier hydro. How many people will it take to convince you? I think you should start asking the question what motor will work. If your looking to get off cheap I would suggest the littlescreamer motor Steven has for sale now. You could probably sell the 1y for the price of the LS motor.
