    Centre of gravity...?

Ok, so my boat has a cog of about 31 -33cm from the transom, the motors are mounted at 9,8cm from the transom,

I don't get is... Is the cog where the batts should be or the boat is balanced either side of this point?

    Cheers.

Im not completely understanding? Your cog is where your boat is ballanced totally rtr. YOUR BATTERIES WILL BE WHERE YOU ADJUST YOUR COG ONCE TESTED. EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARDS.

yes, the cog = the ballance point. so place everything in your hull where your cog is at app 30-33 percent from the transom and test. make sure you have room in both directions ( 1-2'') to move your batteries forward or backwards to adjust the cog after tested in the water.

Thats an excellent way to put it in description. I like to use COB aka Center Of Balance Vs COG, as one is very distinct from the other. COG a single imaginary point or verticle line passing thru a hull where you could attach something like a wire and suspend it and the hull would be balanced front to back AND side to side. While Center Of Balance refers only to front to back. Yet we use COG Vs COB when describing the latter.

Its not a big difference unless you need to be accurate and work in a field like rigging or crane operations. Then the description is in distinct error when used as we in this hobby tend to use. Even though we practice balancing our hulls in a front to back direction I doubt any take the time to balance their hull from side to side, yet both have effects on control or handling of a hull. Out of balance from left to right or side to side is like having your forward travel being pulled to one side. Your boat will have a tendency to turn one direction with no control input and yet your rudder is set to neutral. Like your car pulling to one side because of the front tires being misaligned.

Its not realy important in our area of hobby to be so exact in description, yet they are different in detail. Guess I was bored and wanted to point out something I hear repeated often and yet misunderstood.
