    Mean Machine motor input

Hello everyone, I need some input for a Mean Machine project, I heve a new electric version of the hull from OSE and I'm leaning towards a Castle 1515 1Y with a Hydra 240 lv and 2 Trunigy 5000 mAh 4s 40C. Looking for mid to high 50's for speed. What about a 1518? Also should I run a .150 flex cable or .187 flex cable?

The 1515/1Y is a great hydro motor, but IMO it is not the best for a cat. You'll have better luck with a motor with a bit more torque to swing a bigger prop. What kind of run time will you be wanting, a 55 mph MM will not run for five minutes at full throttle, that is really a racing setup.

If you want to go with Neu, a 1515/2D, 1518/1Y or 1521/1.5D will get you past 50 mph with an m645 prop, assuming you have the cat set up well. If you can give up 5-7 mph, a Feiago 8XL or 9XL works great in these hulls. Either way you'll want to run a 3/16" cable, you'll eventually snap a 0.150" cable running in the 50s.

Thanks for the great info Fluid, for run time I have been used to 3 or 4 minutes max , but with two sets of lipos. I will look into the Neu motors you mentioned, and might look into outrunners that have more torque also.

Rumdog, that Matrix is gonna fly with a 1515 bolted on there, I see where you got 55mph from the 1518 Castle motor you have in the Rico hull, that might be a good starting point for the MM.
