    Octura drive dogs

Does anyone know the thread size or length of the set screw on a Octura 3/16 drive dog? Jeff Wohlt made me a couple of adapters for my stock BJ26 shaft to go to 3/16 th inch props but I need a longer set screw to reach the shaft, like twice, but do not know the thread size or whatever else I would need to know. I've been to 2 hardware stores and they don't go that small. Thanks.

Well there are 2 diff dogs made for the 3/16 I.D......One is a 5/16 O.D. which is probably the one you have. The 5/16 dog uses a 4-40 screw that's about .08 long. (so if you need twice that length look for 5/32 or go with 3/16's long...... Mcmaster Carr should have these for cheaper than anywhere else. Get S.S. of course. Hope this helps

Yes, it did. It points me in the right direction and now I know what to look for as far as size. I do have an Octura drive dog from a year ago and it is much bigger so you are probably right on. I checked the McMaster thing and the 3/16th are 13 bucks for 25 but they have a nylon tip. I guess that would be a good thing as you could really crank them down. I need 2. You armed me with the info I need to hit a couple more shops so I don't appear to be a complete idiot. Thank you, Brian

I needed one also and went to a hobby store. (they didn't have em) I bought some kind of Great Planes parts I saw laying around that had the same size screws in them. I think they were wheel collars maybe.

Ace hardware has them and can buy 1 only. I did not realize something was short or maybe I was not aware. Probably need the 4-40 and 3/16" long.
