    Neu motor jacket question

I would like to make some Neu Water Jackets up.
I need to figure out the need for these.
I see lots of people using the finned model motors? Is there a reason
to use a finned one over a smooth can?
Also which Neu motors are most popular in the Neu line?

Interesting thread in more ways than one. I can't seem to figure out what the Neu motor sizes are in correlation to there designations. It's a little confusing to pick one of them for an app.

I agree completely. I was told the 1512 line was best for smaller-up to 30". I would like to go with one of these and a can cooler without the fins.

I would like a 8S NEU 1521/2Y for the larger 1/8th scale boats.

I would take 2 for the 1515 series motors.

The 1515 series are by far the most popular up here in the PNW. 1509's and 1512's are next.

The 1521 and 1527 cans have a slightly larger diameter than the shorter versions.

I can take measurements off all the motors if you'd like.

I have a 22" Bandit pistolero with a 1509 (smooth) on 2s. I am building an HPR and am going to use 2 1521 1 5y(fined) on 6s to 10s. I think the reson for the fined case is for the surface area (more surface area = more cooling) at least that's the way I look at it. I think an option for eather one would be best.

I would need two for smooth 1515 motors.

                  How are they coming along?
I though more people would be interested.
I will be needing 2 soon for the HPR.

I have three of these motors. All are are the 15 series motors. 1 is finned 2 are not.

The finned one never gets that warm. But would like one none the less.

The 15 size motors are a little bigger than your ave XL size motor. 1515 is approx the same as an XL. 1521 and 1527 are longer cans and mean more tourqe.
                    For example I have:
                    1515 1.5y 1500KV Max 80 amps
                    1521 1.5d 1900kv Max 100 amps
                    1521 1d 2800kv Max 200 amps

check out for all the specs..

We can use five for the 1515 series for starters. Three for the 1521 series and one for the 1527.
                      Thank you sir,

Will they fit the finned motors? I am going to order my motors next week and need to know before I order. I would like to use the finned motors, but I would like to have them water cooled too.
