A year ago fathers day, my buddy and I were sitting in the yard having a BBQ with our families the Saturday before Fathers day. Our wives asked what we were planning tomorrow and we had no idea so they both smiled and handed us our Fathers Day gifts and told us to have fun tomorrow! My wife bought me a Villain ex and his wife bought him a Electric hammer.

By that Monday we both had another boat and it has just gotten bigger from there.

Kinda the same way we do everything, wanted to start rc cars at the same time and talked about it at a dinner with our wives. Our kids are like 3 weeks apart and we live on the same damn block. It is great

About a year and a half ago my family and my mate and his family were at the lake having a bbq and watching him try to run his nitro hammer. His wife said to me wouldn't it be nice if there was a boat that you could bring to the lake without all the snot ie fuel , oil starters etc and run without all the problems. Did some research and went from there. 3 FE boats now another nearly finished and in discussions with andrewg from fastelectrics for the next and all my boats are reliable and alot faster than their nitro counterparts. It IS ADDICTIVE and bloody good fun...

I started out with rc cars and a friend of mine used to run boats and talked me into going out to see them and I went out and bought one and that was all it took.

The kids started out with r/c airplanes. After a 1/2 dozen crashed planes, we decided to order a cheap r/c boat from ebay. They loved it. Two boats later I decided to build a 700sc boat and it has continued with bigger, faster and more expensive.

I have always liked RC boats since I was a kid. I was about 10yo, my dad bought me a "blue devil" destroyer (navy brat). 3/4 of the way to completion, mom told me to put it away, because company was coming (<-- LOL) over. So I hid it under my sisters covers on her bed. I don't know why, and today it seems like a completely bad idea. Well, I forgot about it, and later that night when my sister was ready to go to bed, she JUMPED in, and...
Well, let's say I never got to run it. Many years later (27 years later) I met my soon-to-be brother-in-law. He had a CEN Baja Boss 272 that he had shelved for 2 years. (It's just a white aquajet). I talked him into running it, so he did. Then I bought the newest thing out, the SV27. The rest has been posted about.

I went to the store and saw a toy rc boat that I realy liked, bought it and ran it quite a bit. Then a few years ago after getting into trucks I got a good deal on a villian EX. I snatched it up and since then I have upgraded it, bought a cheaper sail boat, I am building a scratch boat now, and the toy boat that started it all, I ripped out its guts and have installed hobby grade electronics in it. I have yet to run it though.

Around 9 or10 years ago I was in the LHS buying that weeks parts for my Tamiya Hilux. I looked up on the shelf and noticed the Kyosho Jet Stream 800. I took it home and assembled it stock. I put one of my nicd 1500s(big steam for then) in it and went down to the lake. 5 minutes later I was on my way back to the LHS for a motor, trim tabs and some crazy water cooled micro switch speed controller. It had a lexan tub that you ran water through and a coil that was submerged in it. I ran the boat like that for about 2 weeks and then the 2000 scrc nicds popped up in the shop. I bought 4 of them @ 80 bucks a pop. (ahh life before kids :P) I also picked up a reedy sonic 2-10 turn double & the new tekin marine esc. BIG mistake. On the next run I received my first dose of the white smoke & a large one @ that. Motor was toast along with the 80 dollar 6cell 2000 pack. The esc survived but the inside of the hull was never the same. I kept if for a few years. It was the first thing I ever sold on ebay back in 99. If there had been internet & forums I would have had a better first experience. I got back into RC/FE boating last November and found the old OSE forum after a couple weeks. I have been going to school ever since. 6 boats later I have the Jolly Cat and the scat 21 on the bench. I have a really kewl mono planned for the winter. It seems to be the only area of rc that holds my interest.

my dad builds scale ships and we built some gas boats i think a 3.5 tunnel and a shovel nose, been into the cars and trucks for 15 years but ther were some boats along the way a traxxas villian was sweet we got the octura conversion for it with x447 props, later turned it my first fe boat with ose hardware an 8.4bb motor 12 cells it was killer , then a bby tunnel, bby 26, bby scat cat 26 , fdm 32 and another bby boat an om 29 and a wood cat, the scat cat never made it to the water

Pretty much have been fasinated with rc as long as I can remember. Buggies trucks cars helos planes name it Ive tried it. Stumbled across hobbylobby about 3 years ago and saw the EV, figured for $25 bucks what the heck, it turned out to be the best $25 I have ever spent! My first boat used a broken ryobi chainsaw motor and the 18 volt nicad pack and charger. Run times were very short and took forever to charge back up, but for that 2 minutes of running, I was hooked!! The very low maintenance of a boat is whats keeping me in.

RC cars and trucks have been my main thing since 1987 but way back when I bought a Graupner Tornado hydro. After many trys I found the right prop and motor and I would still be driving that little boat today if I hadn't hit a piece of wood at full speed. Tried to build a wood outrigger, couldn't get it to plane, and now I just putt around the lake with my Kyosho Twin Storm at 25 mph. If anyone out there has a Graupner Tornado (NIB would be perfect of course) let me know!

I have always sence being 5 years old been fascinated by RC. I had crap nikko boats as a kid, but never got anything nice. I always told my self one day when I make some money I am gonna get some nice RC Boat stuff! 3 years ago I did and it was nitro. It sucked, was messy and I hated it. I got a FE boat about a year ago and have been hooked sence.

Now I have lipo's, chargers, cells, data logger, everything I need and more. I got hooked on FE like a heroin addict :-) My newest boat runs up to 30 cells!!!!!! Sometimes when I am short on disposable cash I have to watch myself, cause pulling out the CC for a FE boat or part is way to easy over here in my house!!!!

There's NOTHING I like doing more, then enjoying a day off at the lake running my boats. Call me weird, but what can I say. I love this hobby with a passion. The only thing I wish I had is more time to build and learn.
