    Opinions wanted...

I have this MHZ Drambuie on Ice 54" twin cat with scale drives and a pair of 2215 1.5y motors. Gonna run her on 8s, the question is which speed controllers? I was thinking a pair of 40/160 poptarts, but is there something better?

before I pulled the trigger I thought I would check...

    Sandy,

Any idea on what props you will be runnin? So we have an idea of amp draw? There are several new Schulze controllers and the YGE ones as well.

    All the best,

    Ray

I run the 40/160 with a LMT 3080 and the controller has proven bullet proof for the past 3 years....the only drawback is no LiPo cutoff.

YGE controllers are essentially the same ESCs as the pop tarts, they may be more affordable and they come in a 200amp marine version.. as a foot note, maybe you should run more volts thru it to keep the amps in check, a 10s2p, dual 2215/2y setup would be nice in a 54" cat.

Achim Kurrecks ran his HPR 135 cat with a twin setup of 2215/1Y on 10s1p LiPo. The boat reached 126.8mph! Awesome speed.

My HPR 135 is very similar in length and width.
                  Runs 2 x 1527's on 10s and 12s.
                  x457/2 & Abc 2016/3
                  I run the Schultz 40.160's..
I wish i had more money to buy one for every boat i have, but unfortunatly i could only get the 2.
Setup is so easy on them with the Dil switches.
Throttle is so smooth, and love the anti spark on plug in!!

I will be very interested to see how this goes!!
Always thought of going slightly bigger motors later..
She looks good already without paint

Please let us know how it goes
On a side note / Im pretty sure theres ALOT of people wanting to see video of a Dranburie hull with a decent setup. Theres just not much out there.
                        Video FTW !

That is a beauitful boat! Enjoy! I thought the 40.160 would do every thing. But Jay T. told me in a post the bigger cell count and the hot Neu's do not get along with the esc and to use the next size bigger. I did see problems with them years ago at the SAW's. I run my 2230 1y and 10S2P in a 41 cat at 67MPH no problem on the 40.160.

had to make a battery hold system, so I used some 1mm plate for batteries and some 3mm strip to make the velcro hold down rails, which will hold down the esc's in the middle of tunnel. This should help keep the CG low ... now to pull the trigger on the esc's...
