    Charging amps

    Hi,
What's the best amps to use to charge nimh 4200 mah packs? They technically can be charged at 5amps, but I hear lower is better... at what point does it not make a difference? For example, it takes me 3hrs to charge one 4200mah pack at 1.5amps, and I'd sure love to cut down on the time. Is there a big difference going to 3 or 5 amps?

How about amps for 4S lipos?

If you are talking getting the packs charged in between heats when racing then use the max C rating but if you are talking about getting prepped before a fun day on the pond I recommend using a .5 amp trickle charge. This will bring all the cells up slowly and is basicly a balance charge. It does take a long time but its the kindest may to bring them up and maximize a packs life time. When I do take a boat out on nimh packs I hit them with a 2 amp charge right before I head out. It warms them up a tad and tops them off.
