    hydra 240 temp range?

guys, i have been running the etti 150 (which i love) but it went down with my blackjack a while back. bth i still haven't recovered....any way i have been running my new MM 30" cat(thanks nick)with a nemesis 9xl on 4s with a x642,x640,and x645 props...and the hydra gets about 2 min run time with each set up before it reachs 200+....i stop for a min or two when it hits 170 let it cool a min then run it ...is 200 to 205 ok for the hydra??? should i kepp on going???i have a seperate water pickup cooling it so i belive it gets great water flow...my old etti stayed below 150 all the time it didnt matter what prop i ran???

Is your timing correct for the motor?

i belive so i will double check but i always set the timing on the esc at the lowest setting cause the last time i had it set high i caught my blackjack stocker motor on fire

The blackjack motor is a 6 pole I believe...

The feigao you have is a 2 pole motor which requires a bit higher timing.

I'd double check with someone more experienced on that before running though.

that i didnt know ....i will check it out..i thought the lowest timing would give the set up a lower temp, but i will chevk it out thanks..

If I remember correctly (Im just passing info read on the forum here, don't take it as experience) the lower pole motors need more timing to run efficiently.

on the castle instructions it dosent say any specifics..it says the lowest setting is "max efficience and run time"normal "balance power and runtime" i have it set at lowest but i will try it at normal...if that motor runs efficient it shouldnt make the esc work so hard?

sounds to me your boat might be running a bit wet as well.

a 2 pole motor should be run on low timing generally, higher pole motors require more timing.
sounds like there is somthing else going on to me.
i run a 8xl in my MM, with a s215 pranther (around the same as a x640) i get around 3 minutes run time,my esc (mystery 200a) is usally around 120f

Yeah that is way too hot. What Firmware does the 240 have in it?

Thats what I was thinking too Ray. I remember your issues awhile back.

I will check out the firmware. Which number should it be? If I remember correctly when I plug it in the cc software automatically updates it. But I will see which it is. Also I did have the mystery 200 esc in there and it took hit 203 degrees and it didn't smoke or anything it just stopped working. Could it be my battery conoctions? I am running thunder power 8000mah 2p 4s. So in series with deans connectors. I read on here the deans are only good to 60amp and I am pulling 140 to 150( only peakamps) could that make the esc heat up?

So you are running 4s right....not two 4s packs in series

I would def get rid of the deans connectors for something that can handle more amps but I don't think that would be the only factor in both your ESC's running so hot.

Ya 4s total. Not 8s! Although that would be cool.... What tŸpe of connectors should I use I will nees to make a Y connector to run there 2 packs in series. If the connectors aren't the issue I am at a loss. I have had nothing but issues with the hydras. I think I want to go back to the etti.

Make something like these. With lower resistance in your connectors, the SC doesn't have to work as hard. I agree with Raydee that you'll also have to check the firmware & make sure that your timing is correct. Definately use at least 5.5's between the SC & motor. I sometimes run my Titan 29 on 4S2P with a 9XL, CC Barracuda 80 and a X442 and the SC never gets over 120-135. Your MM should run even freer with similar or lower temps.
