    Seakinf 35A ESC on Mini-Eco

    In the middle of a run I lost steering. It did not become erratic or anything, simply stopped working. Had normal throttle response.

    So I let it float back, and inspect the interior and there is no water outside of a drop.

    I take it home take apart my RX, a futaba 153 and again no water. I recconect everything and still no steering response. This is a brand new hi-tec HS-65HB so I knew the servo wasn't bad. I connected a standard RX nicad and the servo works fine.

    I next connect the RX and servo to another ESC and again everything works fine. I checked the voltages on the Lipo I was using and found 3.9v on all three cells..

    Back onto the SeaKing and no steering. But throttle is fine. What gives?!

    ~~~~~~~~Sorry the title says seakinf....~~~~~~~~~~
        I will make that a question, does anyone make a quality ESC for smaller boats like this?
            do you have a receiver battery so you could disable the BEC and test it?
              Evidently the 180A Seaking's throttle is powered by the bec as well as the steering. Nothing will work if the bec goes out on them. Clip the red wire, plug in a battery pack and it all starts working again. I've had no problems/complaints with my 35A Seaking (so far). I use one in my rigger (avatar).
                I already tested it with a NiCd and it worked fine.
                  even on my $160 CC hydra 120, i refuse to trust the built in BEC, and use an external BEC.
                  In my opinion, ALL linear BECs are crap.
