    Neu 1515 1Y, CC 240, Twin Cat - Amps?

    Guys, I am after some help, we are set up to run

    Neu 1515 1Y's
    Castle Hydra 240's
    Pack = 5S 5000mAh 30c ( still to Purchase)
    Prop = X442 or X447 Left & Right

    Hull = 110cm Twin Powered Cat

    I want to know more about what amps we will be pulling so I can make the best decision on the packs we need.

    Does anyone have any data logged infor from a set up the same or very close to this?

    All help is greatly appreciated.

      Packs

      Well, we are looking at the G3 Hyperion's, 6500mah 35C rated. should be able to do over 200A constant (on paper) but I am interested to see if anyone has a similar set up, even a single of the set up on a mono?

        I would make a educated with experience guess that with 5S on your setup with 442 props you will be 110-140 amps per side. With the same 5S and 447 props you will likely see 140-170amps. I have no logged data but have a bit of time with those motors and large cat setups. Best bet is to send Andrew at fastelectrics an email. I dont know how he gets his calculations but he pulls some stuff out that I never expect.

          OR, split the diff. and go with carbon 45mm props on 5S. Speed, runtime, and less abuse to those hydra's.:)

            Boatman,
            funny you mention Andrew, he is building this boat for us, I also have the carbon 45's to try.

            The main reason for asking is I have a lot of differnt recommendations as far as pack size and discharge rate, but there is always plent of help on here, so I am keen to see who has a similar set up and the results.

            Thanks for the feedback, it is a very similar opinion to mine.

                Fruity, Im surprised that Andy didnt talk you into the 1518-1.5D for your twin cat project.
                Im running the 1515-1Y on a 240 with M447 prop and the constant amps are around 130 to 150 with spikes up to 180A, but this is with 4S not 5S
                Im building a HPR115 with twin 1518'S on 5S, so very similar to your cat.
                Good luck with your project.

                  1515 1y's on 5s?! That's over 40,000 unloaded rpm right? Seems a bit high.

                    Whats this 110cm cat Andrewg is building for you?
                    Got me very interested?
                    Mate he is a fountain of information when it comes to fast rc boats.
                    Andrew has help me build 2 boats so far and the 3rd is on the way.

                    Like Boatman said, I would just send Andrew an email and he will answer all of you question.
                    I think your cat is going to be a screamer. Good luck and keep us informed.

                      Bonewar,
                      The cat is called a MasoKat, it retails for just under $500 Aus. I have not seen one run, but Andrew tells me they run very nicely.

                      The Cat is actually for a friend, we are trying to get some good speed out of it, around 75 MPH. Will have fairly short run times, but plenty of speed (hopefully).

                      I have discussed packs & Amps with Andrew, but I always like to take in info from other sources as well.

                      I am also getting closer to finishing my twin Maritimo, just need to assemble shafts and a few tidy ups pieces, then I can test.

                      How is the Maritimo with the tunnel flap coming along?

                      Cheers...Tim.

                        Just waiting on the rain to go away. (2 x cyclones dumping there load on us.)
                        Then i will finish off the fiber glassing.

                        Got any pictures of your Timo we can have a look at.
                        And thanks for the info.
