How many amps?

Any ideas on how many amps a Neu 1527 1D motor in a 7.5 pound boat on 22 volts will be pulling at full tilt? I only make SAW runs with it. My Eagle Tree only goes up to 150 amps so i never botherd to hook it up for a reading. I know there are alot of variables to this question but thought i would throw it out there. Thanks

Miss Dominator Hull with a M645 prop. Boat has gone a best of 102mph.

Depending on what version Eagle Tree you have along with sensor you can see more then 150 amps on the graph. I have the V1 version with the 150 amp sensor and I can plot up to 200 amps. As far as a guesstimate to what you are running there are too many variables. Since your speed is very respectable I would assume its a hydro. And a 645 is not a huge prop so your setup sounds efficient. What speedo? Schulze? And a 1D is an amp hog so not enough info for me to speak out.

I use a hydra 240 and yes it is a Hydro. I didnt think the Eagle Tree would go that high so i never botherd to check. I did use the Watts meter and it always pegged at 149 amps so who knows.

Throw your eagle tree in the boat mate. You should be safe. Just do a pass and check for heat . I've had peak amps of 185 recorded on mine on a couple of occasions . There pretty tough little units. Bonewar

I've run that motor on 6S in a SAW cat and burned up a 240 Hydra. You will see peak draw under acceleration of well over 300 amps. Once on step and at a steady speed, I'd guess ~200 (45,000 rpm) - but you'll spend most of your time accelerating....

WOW ........thats alot!! What would be the best ESC to use with my combination? I have looked at Shulze but there web site is kinda confusing. Any input on them? Also what is the max a 240 can handle for short runs.

As for the H240LV, it depends on how many runs you want to make pulling over 300 for much of the acceleration runup. Actually it may be hurt even more by back EMF from the slow down. IME running SAW setups at an event (where all stops are pulled out) between 8 to 15 runs of 2 to 3 passes each, then look for a poof.

I've had excellent luck with the older Schulze 32-170 and 40-160, but these have been changed in the past year to different versions - with which I have no experience. Both were 'way under-rated.

So you would go with a 40-160 or should i spring for the 40-300 esc ?
