speed controls, what one to go with?

So I'm converting a .25 nitro 33" deep vee into a brushless powered beast. I have Peter Zicha working on motor mounts and esc plates. Either a Fiago 580xl or a 15 series neu will be going in.

This is the boat in question

Now I've been looking at esc's on the store page here looking at the Etti and Castle esc's. However. the Higher the Amp rating the more Jam the esc has correct? So wouldn't the Etti with a 4-14 lipo S rating but with only 100amps be a dogg? The Castle 240 seems like a nice unit aswell but is there another product out there for around the same price or cheaper then the castle that takes the cake? I also was looking up the Turnigy escs. What I'm not picking up on is 180amp but only 6s limit, then others are 180amp and 80amp 12s limit. Can someone give me a hand with picking a esc out?

That and now that I look... is 8s going to be just stupid in this hull? I like stupid fast, jump out of the water fun. Are the Fiago 580xls a good motor? Edit** The more I read online, the more I hear that this motor is really quite hit and miss. Now I really need help on picking a motor LOL This is going to be a play boat, but I like high speed runs. rippin around the ponds, lakes, etc. Maybe I'll join the local high power boating club lol.

    Thanks again guys

I would put a castle creations 240 lv and either a neu 1515 1y or a 1521 1.5d either motor on 4s 5000ma 30c or higher with a 445 to 447 prop is about the norm for that size boat it will be plenty fast enuff good luck

Not to overstep mikes advice on motors excellent choices by the way but if you want a little more run time a 1515 1.5Y or 1521 1Y on 2 x 6 cells would give you 30% - 50% more run time or just go with some really large 4 cells in parallel with Mikes recommendations

I run the 1521 1y in my DF33 6s2p. CC low voltage is plenty.

what do you think about the 1527 1y on 6s?

I'm glade you brought it up I never think to sugest 6s for a p size boat but its what I always run for Q-mono also. I like the 1521 1y myself

The 1521/1y is an awsome setup runtimes are not to great but I rather go as fast as I can for short periods of time. I am running Polyquest 3s 6000mah packs. It took a good bit of tinkering with but the setup is great now. I cut 3/4 of an inch off of the Speedmaster stinger but still didn't like the way it handled. Then I put on a Speedmaster Mono Strut and that was the ticket. More adjustability. I do also run a Speedmaster .21 rudder but with 1/2 inch trimmed off the bottom. Boat trimmed dry will run low 70's high 60's depending on water conditions.
