    DaTurtle Tested

I took DaTurtle down to the lake for a second test run. The first test resulted in burnt motor windings, the cause of which was inadvertently getting paint thinner on them after having rewound the armature. Anyway, she’s way too light in the bow (or A$$ End heavy, even though the pilot {DaTurtle} rides up front). Even at low speed, the bow rides too high. I puttered around for ~ ten minutes, & only consumed 1400 mAh from the 6 cell 3600 mAh NiMH pack I’m using.; it should be good for twenty+ minutes of run time. To reduce the bow high running attitude, I made a plaster of paris mold, melted down some lead egg sinkers, & fashioned an 11.5 ounce chunk, which I’ll attach right up front with double sided tape before my next test.
    Lots O Luck !!!

      Hey, Rumdog.
      Oh Yeah?
This is my design intended to be used as a retrieval vessel. I have a two man rubber raft which was going to be used for that purpose, but it was very unstable (not really large enough for a single occupant, scared the dickens outta me, even though I wore a life vest). Besides, by the time I got it inflated & ready to go, the breeze had almost already blown the stricken craft to shore.
I was going to name it "DaPusher", but figured finding a caricature of Steppenwolf to mount on the bow were slim to none - - Burn My Butt !!!

The 11.5 ounces of lead did the trick - - holds the bow down nicely. The motor I’m running is 45 turns of 24 AWG, & with only the Defective Grim Racer 42X55 prop providing a load (blowing air), my Whattmeter gives me a reading of 13 watts/1.72 amps/7.70 volts. It wouldn’t quite plane-off using 6 cells, so for grins, I stuck in a 7 cell pack. It barely was able to get on plane, so does that qualify as F.E.??? Anyway, it’s very maneuverable, & should be a good recovery vessel. If anyone asks what the burgundy thingy is up front, I’ll just tell ‘em it’s DaTurtle's Food Dish !!!
