At what age do get interested in boating?

    Hi guys

My little boy is 7 months old and I am keen to get him into RC boating.....

Would like to make my hobby a family affair and get everybody involved..... The missus won't have any choice but to follow us to the lake if we decide to.....

What age do you think they can get interested in RC boating? Any ideas or stories to share?

The little fellas I meet at the pond are always in awe and admiration at my boats, but they are at least 5-6 years old..... Some are in their 60's also.....

    Cheers

    JC

i know i was in my early teens but that was because we sponsored 2 full size offshore powerboats. team ocean spray crave the wave, a D class mono with twin 1050hp mercruisers. The other was a single B class mono, team flashpoint.

this got me wanting to build a scale version of the oceanspray boat for the longest time.
to me at that age their was nothing more beautiful than the le gran argentina . this got me hooked in anything to do with speed and water.

My oldest daughter is 2 and she loves to play when I work on my hulls. I have a mini rio that she calls hers so I let her play with it. I am yet to let her control it in the water tho.

I started building my scratch pathetic sail boats and Jetex propelled boats at the age of 7, but at that time I thought they were cool. I was very jealous of the old boys that had valve/tube RC noisy boats

I built my first powered model boat when I was about 14. That was in 1957!

All my kids have been around them since born. Only my middle boy takes real interest in building and running them. My oldest will more than gladly run one if he's handed a control, but has no interest in anything else.
