    Building a Boat, My first!

Hello, i have been into the R/C hobby for many years, and i own a few land kits, so i know about BL systems, and batteries and all that electrical technichal stuff,

i am looking to build a nice boat, but as my first, i want it to be relativley inexpensive and the most fun just to get into R/C boating a little more,

i was looking at a Delta Force 26, thats an inexpensive hull to start as a base, and a seaking ESC and a feiago motor,

and i was thinking of using my Revo's 3s packs in the boat to save a little,

but my problem lies in the whole setup of evrything,

how would it be like gearing in a boat, by the prop and stuff, and how does the water cooling routing go?

i juts want to learn a little and i was hoping you guys could start me off on the right foot, but first i need a hull, any ideas?

    Thnaks alot, Nick,

ohh, i also forgot to say, i wil be running the boat in a good sized pond and a small lake, and maybe the niagara river, if that will help determine the kind of hull i need,

That hull is great, use 4S li-Po power, direct drive, X435 as a start point, hardware is up to you, search the OSE home site. Water cooling is very basic and depends on your delivery system, cooling method for the motor and the ESC

Mr. Scotsman, could he get away with a lower KV motor and be able to move up to 6s in that hull being he has 3s packs? Or maybe one of those cool newish outrunners using 3s?

ok, i read around abit, and found a great thread and read it,

and i will use a Delta Force 26, Seaking 180A, Feiago 1800-2500kv (maybe), And i just have to buy all the little bits for power transfer and water cooling,

how do you guys mount the batteries in the hull and stuff, i am trying to learn as much as possible about boats,

        thanks guys!

i have a Airtronics MX-3FG FHSS-2 radio, i use it for surface, but it does say marine capable, why wouldent a radio be? thanks,

and yeah, i would like to use my revo packs, so either 3S or 6S, would i be better off using an outrunner, or stick with an inrunner??

if your plan on using 3s lipo I would use a Feiago 6XL or 7XL starting with a props size in 38mm to 42mm to start. to hold down batteries you can use velcro and velcro straps like these http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...H60054&cat=123

6S requiers an expensive ESC and 4S is more suitable for that hull length with a motor and ESC package. This package may suit him as he is on a budget.

My best advice to you sir is to start here:http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Bas.../9780911295078

Its a book on the basics of radio control model boating. It will give you a basic understanding of setting up a model boat. 13.95 plenty of basic knowledge.

We are all trying to help you. That radio will not work with some boat ESC's.

As Bill stated look up his search advise website

Might it be better getting a RTR boat instead? I've had a few gas boats and we run brushless cars but my first FE boat was a SV27. It gave me an idea of how the boats are set up, component location, balancing COG, trimming, and how it all goes together. Then when I put my first boat together I had a little bit better of an idea of what I was doing (along with help from you guys and reading previous posts). Just a thought.

                      I ran the df 26 on 3s1p, 5000 mah and a feigao 540 8L. 120 amp speedy and a x637. I was a rocket!

Always better to feed a man's ambition to build an rc boat, nothing but good can come of his accomplishiment. He will have an unmatched understanding by building himself

Cool, i was wanting to use 3s anyways, then it will be light, and i can have 2 packs for running already,

i just have many little questions, like where the best place for the water pickups are on the bottom of the hull, where the outputs go, and if i should have seperate pickups for the motor and esc.

and where the prop output should go on the back of the boat, like how far up from the bottom of the hull,

and do i use a prop going in like a tube setup and having a seperate rudder, or do i buy an octra rudder prop holder thing combo,

im going to look at some builds now, and i must build it myself!! i hate buying RTR, i like seeing it go together and knowing how it works, i also like fabricating my own parts,,

                          thanks for all the help,,

For an idiot from Ontario you are asking valid questions
Search the build site on Delta hulls and many questions will be resolved. It is then a matter of experiment...welcome to the FE boating world, it can be frustrating but very rewarding.
