    ABS hulls and Robbe boats

Hi, I´m thinking of my next project...

Scale looking offshore boat this time.

This is something I´m thinking right now.

    build pdf here

THe abs hull is something new to me. It cant be as durable as fg hulls are, but can it be reinforced with cf or fg?

I would be using one or two outboards on this one.

Any info of abs plastic and robbe boats is welcome!

Yes, you can reinforce the abs by putting fiberglass or carbon fiber inside the hull. Use EPOXY resin, not polyester. Poly will eat up the ABS hull. Just be sure to rough up the ABS a bit before doing your glass work.

The biggest disadvantage to ABS hulls is the difficulty in being able to repair them as easily as you can a glass hull. They are also not nearly as strong as glass unless it's an unusually "thick' abs.

This boat is not thick ABS... I have one and it's ok for the kids: runs a Venti 600BB on 2S, 30mm prop. The Z drive is the weak link, if you replace it it will be ok.

It's a fun little boat... very stable and with loads of potential...

        Thanks guys!

THe zdrive would not go on this boat, pair of graupner 650 outboards ,or single 820 outboard was on my plans for it.

I´m not sure yet what boat I´ll get next, lightning or maybe the montega or san diego.

What ever I build next, it wont have that high top speed, just need one boat that is relaxing to drive, not another 60mph panic attac.
