    wire drive

    i have been using a .130 flex shaft but i have broke 2 already........can i replace this with a wire drive.........does bend matter.......... if so i dont think i can use it b.c i have a bend in my stuffing tube.....a regular bend a catamaran uses........
    60% of the time... it works every time!

    A wire drive can not have much bend.

      ok well am i breaking the flexcable because i have too much power......... im running an 8xl on 12 cells.....and a x438-x440........
      60% of the time... it works every time!

        you ought to be using a 0.15" cable what with that motor, instead of the 0.13".
        methinks that for testing purposes only, that you might be able to pull the liner out of the stuffing tube and run the cable w/o liner(ultimately you should replace the appropriate parts with the correct size parts).
        Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

            well i found out that it didnt break the thread lock just failed..........
            60% of the time... it works every time!

              Be sure you clean the propshaft and cable as directed in the tips section. I have never had one fail yet.

                yea the last time it worked great but then i need to switch it and didnt clean it out or anything........im sure thats why

                  cleaning is the key!!! and also are you using the right loc tite?

                    Actually, cleaning is not the key if you are using Loctite #603 (this on wire drives). This product will cure in oil - although removing what you can is not a bad idea. The two biggest causes of Loctite failure are

                    - inadequate coverage of the wire/hole with product (air bubbles)
                    - the use of out-of-date product.

                      I stand corrected. I had not considered that. If I had a failure in the past I would have thought of that. It was the first thing that came to mind.
