If you honestly believe this Bill all I can say is that you are severely misinformed.

And again, if you can feel the difference of 3 or 4 ms of difference in latency, then my hat is off to you

To everyone else, look at the features, make your own comparison, and buy what best suits your needs and budget.

I' m looking for the new Spektrum DX2S DSM. What do you think?
I don' t need 2 receivers, heavy-duty metal-geared servo with dual ball bearings is included and it' s not very expensive.

Guys... on this reaction time test.. I think you need to consider that part of the reaction is going to be how fast your computer reacts...

I just took the test on my little Dell Mini-9 laptop, and the best I could do was 266ms... On my wifes Dell XPS, the score was faster....

In fact, I'd say part of the score includes the "Latency" of the computer/peripheral you are using to "click" for the test....

I've done it on 4 computers, 3 Apples (Mac-Mini, iMac, Macbook) and a Toshiba laptop running Vista. My average scores varied by less than 1.5%. I'm certain that the computer plays some part but that number of around 215 ms is one that has been used in several different references.

Point is that relative to any latency inherent in our radios the speed of our own reaction is the the critical part. The difference between the best and worst radios is swamped by the HUGE lag in our own flawed biologic systems!!

But it is a neat number for the marketing guys to use in their advertisements. And if you don't think marketing is critical keep in mind that McDonald's sell BILLIONS of burgers and it ain't cause they taste great!!

well according to bill airtronics has a latency of 2.5ms
according to spektrum there fastest system is 3ms
so who has got a reaction time of .5ms yet ?
what i would find more interesting is how many guys run high speed digital servos in there boats
me i must be getting old as i like high torque but not high speed as it makes the boat to twitchy for my liking

I fly helis also, and noticed a welcome change when i swopped from Futaba FM to a Spectrum DX7 TX.Helis DO need a quicker system, but boats defo dont need the benefit.
Doing race ovals requires smooth response and smooth driving.
Better stronger digital servos are all thats needed as well as a a long range, glitch free system.
                    Slow gets boring fast.

So there is still hope for me. I will give it a try at work today and see if its any different.

Absolutely helis are one place where low latency is a true benefit, especially when doing hard 3D. This is why Futaba came out with their new High Speed receivers (6008HS, 6014HS, 6106HFC). But as I noted above, in planes, and certainly boats, extremely low latency is not something that is meaningful.

That's all cool... but I just tried it here in my work computer, and my new score is 172 ms...

Might be the difference between trying to use a touch-pad and a real mouse??

                              I feel much better now...

Oopss... spoke too soon... Just tried again, and now it's 156ms...

Might have to keep working at it, Steven...
