hv maxx motor issues!!! locked rotor

ok, i'm getting really annoyed. i'm running a hvmaxx in my offshore rcboat and it runs fast as hell but the most i've gotten 5 runs on it

the first time it fried and i sent it in for a refurbed unit. that was after 4 runs with no thermals.

when i got the new system in i got 5 runs with no thermals till once it stalled and quit in the water on me.

i pulled her out and the problem is locked rotor detection. i pulled it from the boat and it still detects a locked rotor. when it's out of the boat though if i ease on the throttle i can get it to run. it will not run at all with a load on it.

does anybody know whats causing this? please help!!

i looked at the paper work. it said exxecive heat will cause rotor and magnet damage. i'm sendn her in and i ordered a feiago water jacket for future prevention. hope it fixes it, cause to get the speeds i want out of the boat from convential marine power it would take alot more than you standard fieago xl

I also disagree. The XL is a longer motor. That will produce more torque.

Guys I learned an expensive and hard lesson when I returned to rc boating. 95% of car power systems are not adapted well to boat. Just my 2 cents.

sounds like it got too hot and the rotor lost its magnetism. this would still allow it to turn without a load but not with one. even with the water jacket it wont last much longer. IMO u are wasting money on the hv get a feigao and be done with it.

I am gonna have to disagree with this, these motors are not good in BIG boats, but they are VERY good in the right size hull, we have one in our club he is using a Novak GTB 7.5 in a 21 inch hydro spins a modified x432 and the little thing is ballistic it has no problem hangin with in LSH hydro and it runs forever on 6 4200s. it has gotten wet many times he dries it out with compressed air and throws it back in the water.

The NOVAKS will work just fine in boats. BILL OXIDIAN has ran them since thier inception, He runs the NOVAK very regularly. HE HAS SET, BROKEN AND HOLDS SEVERAL RECORDS USING THEM, The key is to match the system to the hull This holds true to all powereplants,

it's a 31" challenger. offshore deep vee. the motor makes it fly but not for long. like i said i ordered a fieago 14xl and hydra120 last night

i'll be taking a speed cut but the "trouble free" running will be worth it

I was aware of there uses. I should have been more clear. My intent was to make it easer for the new guy. When you burn up equipment and waist money it discourages newbs and they drop out of FE before having any fun. As we all know using the right equipment early on makes for a better experience.
