    Df clone 39 decision

    HI ALL,
JUST BOUGHT THE DF 39 CLONE..BOUGHT THE LAST NEU 1527 1Y 1250 KV FROM OSE..I PLANNED ON POWERING THIS WITH 2 ZIPPY 4S 5800 MAH BATT IN SERIES FOR 8S 35C DISCHARGE..IS THIS THE RIGHT CHOICE? I AM HOPING FOR 60 BUT I HAVE NEVER TRIED ANYTHING THIS SIZE..I AM GOING FOR THE HYDRA 240HV OR A SCHULZE OF SOME SORT..ANY THOUGHTS OR COMMENTS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED..I AM EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE HAHA..PROP CHOICE MAYBE A 1.6 X48MM OR HIGHER?

Nice hulls, good size for the waves.
On 8S though its gunna' draw alot of amps,i would go for 6S.

6s1p Hyperian 6500's or 6s2p 3700's. The 2p setup might be easier to balance in a mono. X450 ish prop. Hang on to your butt. It'll take more prop but get used to it first. That motor is a beast.

brod, thanks for your comment..how much is a lot of amps? something a hydra 240 cannot cover safely? what about 7s? i guess what confuses me about brushless motors is that i have read that i want to be around 30,000-33,000 rpm if i were to run 8s with an neu 1y 1250kv it comes out to around 32,000 and change..7s would put it in the 28,000 range..loaded rpms...maybe you or someone could give me a better grasp on what causes high amp draw besides prop not turning or hull running too wet..the direct correlation between voltage and current draw i guess i am a little confused about

this is what fecalc comes up with, mite not be dead accurate but will give you an idea
                  on 6s 142 amps 50 mph
                  on 7s 200 amps 60 mph
                  on 8s 245 amps 66 mph

IMO,what Oz says, try it on 6 S and start playing with props.
Remember the larger the boat the bigger the prop and the slower the props too.
For example my 29" same hull turns the props about 32000rpm and my 47" same type of hull (Gas powered) turns the prop about 18000rpm,both are hitting about 60mph.
You really want to be turning about 24-26000 rpm with a 39" mono hull.
                        Just find the right props.

Ideally that hull IMO wants to run on 8-9S lipo running a 950-1000kv motor.

                        Brod..
