Hey guys I'm brand new to brushless boat and hoping for some help. I've run gas boats for a few years now and run both my cats in the 70mph zone so I'm selling them kinda bored with the and am interested in making this 36 inch atlas van lines hydro my new toy/project I'm wanting to go with a himodel 200 esc and have a ton of a123 cells lying around from my trucks and cars my question is what would be a good motor for this lil boat that may push it up to or close to the same mph I was seeing with my gas boats? Also a good prop starting point would be appreciated. Is it even possible to get this boat as fast as my others? Someone please hold my hand here I don't want to just throw anything in this boat and get laughed off the pond by the gassers I used to run with. My goal is to be as fast or faster than 60 to 65 which is where most of them are at. Please help I'm sold on brushless now. Thanks so much and happy holidays,Duane

Sorry, but if you are "kinda bored" with 70 Mph cats, how is a 60 Mph hydro going to un-bore you??
What setups were you running on your gas cats? 70 mph is pretty fast.Grand River Marine Modellers

Yeah I really like the a123 cells in my land vehicals but not oppposed to lipos if need be. To answer your question which was really not what I created this post for, yeah 70 mph is fast 72.4 to be exact full mod zenoah 26 wrap to center quick draw pipe and custom h50 prop worked by me and other tricks of the trade got me there its just that was my goal and I reached it. I enjoy the boating hobby along with my helis planes and cars but I'm tired of the fuel mess and being restricted to 1 pond to run at due to the noise of these beasts. I'd like to run at several other spots that I know I can run electric at and not have any noise complaints. So if you are interested in chatting about how I can set you up with a fast gas boat I can give you a forum we use and I can set you up with all the help you need. Since I made this post on off shore electrics asking for help or ideas I would appreciated the same kindness and help I'm just a guy trying to enjoy the hobby further like everyone else. Now any pointers????Comment

Also, the hi-model is a good esc, but on a hydro of 36" I'd suggest getting a higher quality esc. This is the pricey part. You'll want a hv esc to run 6s or more. The Schulze esc's are considered the best by many boaters but the price is sky high!!Comment

Rumdog thank you that give me something now to research on which is what I was after. Figured the esc was gonna be the pricey part but what i get for my cats and gas stuff outta more than cover it. I realy appreciate the input.
Doby, Sorry after reading my response it sounds rude. All I was getting at was I dont wanna waste anyones time with "are your sures" and a bunch of "blah blah blah" I did enough of that on the other gas forum I have been on for years and to be honest most guys that had a smug remark about setup always had something smart to say that didnt pertain to a setup or any helpful information to anyone for that matter and turned out most of them didnt have a clue on their own setup let alone someone elses so Im trying to stay away from that kinda talk. No offense if that came across rude but if I wasnt interested in getting into brushless or pushing things to their limits I wouldnt have asked for at least a lil clue or tip here from experienced guys. Thanks , DuaneComment

As you get closer to making a decision on motor and esc ....I have a Power Jazz 63 volt esc that i may part with! Brand new no connectors on it yet.
Perhaps a few guys can weigh in on this esc by Krontronik!
Don't have a price in mind yet but ....We did it with a Bang!

No not interested in racing at all. I just want to put her in a pond lake or river wherever I may be and haul balls without saying........ahh i shouldve bought that esc or ahhh I shouldve bought that motor. Id like to have great gear up front the get my max speed from my setup + prop tweeking ect.... Just a good initial set up on the big ticket items so I can put them in a different hull if I decide to change up hulls down the road. You get me?Comment
