I use these all the time in my nitro and gas stuff, had a similar set up when I used spektrum on road but now I am really just running electric stuff and I have a huge lipo battery for my radio and it lasts forever, but what does everyone use for there FE boat or do you use one at all?
Failsafe question

Most, if not all brush/brushless escs have a failsafe built in. They shutdown/disarm when the signal is lost. This is different than a gas/nitro, where you are using a servo for throttle control. The servo will lock in position when a signal is lost without a failsafe to pull it back to the neutral position.Last edited by ReddyWatts; 07-24-2007, 08:30 AM.ReddyWatts fleet photo

I just use a 6v battery pack with 4AA's to rx. Has lasted about 6runs so far. I like that system with my FM 6ch futaba. I can program all my models and have very safe distance range. A lipo would be cool to have but I can stop at store and grap 4 AA's rather than take time to charge if dead.Comment

yea AA's are nice from a replacement standpoint, I have one Thunder power 11.1 volt 2100 that will last me 2 months of racing my 10th scale car every Friday, trips to the lake 2-3 times a week with 4-6 different boats and I have yet to run out of power.
My Helios tells me the voltage of the pack, full charged it reads 12.4 and takes it forever to get down to 11 and the radio will run all the way down to 10. And I also use 11.1 volt lipo's in my micro hydro so those are back ups at worst.
My main question here was the fail safe, but the more I have been looking pretty much all the electrics I have, have a fail safe built into them so I am covered.Comment
