    something for under the tree

    hey guys!

since christmas is coming up ive been looking into something to get under the tree, im completely stumped on what to ask for, i know that i want a boat and something a little bit larger than most of my boats which are mini`s, something in the 20"-30" range but is has to be able to run on 2s or 3s batteries, or two 3s batts in series to make 6s and the same with the 2s`s i want something that is RTR or ARTR, or has all the parts and just needs to be assembled. im not sure on what to get, im open to pretty much anything except for hydros because their not that great in chop, and where i usually run their is a pretty good amount from boat wakes an other things.

    thanks guys!

I have liked the widowmaker since first sighting. I am already a big fan of Proboat motor and even the ESC. I know the motor can go 4, 5 and even 6S (with proper precautions of course). I haven't run it or seen it run, but would be surprised if it were not pretty cool.

thanks jesse, i have looked into the widowmaker but im just not a fan of the look, also it looks like some people said that it handles very badly and needs a different prop.

Fair enough. I was trying to think of something that would be comparable to the DF 26 cause that is the baddest boat in the whole darn town. I guess you could see if fullers makes an RTR.

What motor / esc are you looking to run? I just know that the DF 26 or even knock offs are about the funnest most versatile setups around. Everybody should have one. And if it has the proboat BJ motor, you can use 6S and do mid 50s.... I did and love my lil guy dearly. Check with Skunkworks... some say they aren't quality, but I don't agree. I had one and it was pretty nice. The driveline is a little less convenient, being 4mm and that you remove part of the strut to lube the cable, but could be an option.

Actually, see if OFE could set one up for ya... I mean see if they could set one up for Santa...

the other option would be the mean machine, I am sure you would totally dig that one.

hey jesse, do you have a link to the skunkworks website? i cant seem to find it (if their is one lol)
i would love to have a boat that could get into the 50`s. i was thinking an sv27 motor and esc or a blackjack motor and esc.

              thanks!

I don't think they have a website that works - just do a search on Scotty Skunkworks and you should be able to pm him.

I would steer you towards the BJ motor and even the ESC. Keep in mind though, you will need a bigger ESC to run 6S and get into the 50s for more than 15 seconds, the stains and stink in mine will attest to that. Even on 4S (I have snuck 5S into my boats and haven't paid yet) and a X642 prop she will be screamin fast! And that you can do on the Proboat ESC.

Keep in mind, all my suggestions come with a disclaimer: I am willing to find the limit of electronics and then straddle it! the quote I stole from a post and put in my signature is a universal truth, however.

Stay with the L series and go as low a KV as possible. remember the BJ is 1500 kv. I would shoot for that range, a 12L I think is the lowest they go.

If you are going to run the BJ equipment, remember to use at least 4s... otherwise you'll be very disappointed and may wanna shoot Santa...

How about the 23" RTR Version of the Sniper? I should be out by the New Year. These are great racing hulls and specially the Sniper, with the deeper Vee than the rest of the DF line of monos. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ead.php?t=8745
