        Thanks, but I'm only part of the equation.

        The success of the forum rank/google listing is based on many things. One of them is content. As the forum gets busier with rc boating content, it will go higher on the list.

        If you watch the "people" surfing, you will see google "bots". The bots surf the site to keep track of things.

            I will butt in again on this accomplisment...surprise...NO

            Steven, Danny and many others have kept this a very civil site, with a few exclusions including myself. Well done Steven and moderators.

              Steven,
              Google seems to give weight to the title of your page. By title, I mean the text that is sandwiched between the HTML <TITLE> tags in the <HEAD> section of your web page.

              Meta keywords elements have been abused so much in the past that Google completely ignores them. You should still populate them because some less sophisticated search engines may still use them. But typically you want to limit them to 10 or so keywords/keyword phrases so as not to appear spammy. And limit them to words that appear on your page.

                Do a "View source" on the #1 ranked site in that search, you'll see this...
                <html>
                <head>
                <title>RC Boats</title>

                    I guess I have some cleaning up to do

                    Also a problem is that rcboats is not part of my url. They seem to give a ton of weight to that. I own a bunch of other urls, fastelectricboats, offshorerc and rcboaters. Some day the forum may turn into rcboaters. But thats a long ways away.

                        7th? Dam it I have to get working..
                        As per Danny's suggestion, I changed some the title and keywords. We will see if the change moves us up or OFF the front page.

                              Now listed 4th down on both Google and Yahoo. Probably a big part due to the suggestion of Danny to clean up keywords.
