    31" Hydro Conversion

Ok I have a 31" cheapy Hydro boat. Everything is basically real cheap but the hull is actually pretty good. Ok I stripped everything out like the cheap circuit board electronics and dual 380 motors... Well being an rc racer from years ago I got parts floating around so I want to make this a sleeper. The boat is actually a NQD RTR.

Im thinking on putting two Titan 550 19t motors

A novak EVX Marine ECS (can handle two motors)

With a few minutes work I can make the rudder work and just add a servo and linkage.

    I also have a 2nd Specktrum 2.4ghz receiver

Whats everyone opinion on this idea and setup... Should it be fast? Remember Im trying to make a sleeper where no one will know its actually a fast boat...

You will hav a problem mounting 550 in the place of 380 motors.

We have some good succes mounting Multiplex 480 6d or 4d motors wit duel mamba 25a speed controls. Works well with little modifcation.

A buddy of mine a has a sea master for MRC boats. He used 2 of the BL480 6D motors and 2 maba 25 amp speed controls. He also used counter rotating props and at was a quck fun turn on a dime boat. I see if I can get any photos of it....

Looking at the info ya sent it looks like the 4D motor has higher rmps than the 6D motor... What do you sugguest to make this as fast as this can be... two 4D motors and two Mamba 25a ECS's? It does have counter rotating props now

a guy i know built one of these he stripped everything out and put in a 700 SC on 14 cells, If you want fast this is not the hull to use. but it does look good on the water. her is some pics of his, he did it up as the Miss Budweiser. It was running roughly 20mph on this set up.

Thanks for the pics... Nice boat... I would think this hull would be good design due to riding on the water if enough power behind it. What would be a good hull to start off with then?

Hmmm wounder if I should just buy a Villian EX

Well after I figured out the cost of modifying the Hydro which was a bit over 200.00 and it still wouldnt scream across the water I looked into a SuperVee27 as mentioned above... It definatly looked better faster then the Villian EX... Well for 220.00 (including shipping) Im now the owner of A SuperVee27 with about 5 runs on her.... Complete with radio (even though Im going to use my own Sprectrum 2.4Ghz system).

Now the guy said it could use a new prop so my next question is whats a good fast prop for her?

I plan to use 2 matched 4300mah 7.2v batteries which he suggested. I saw 5000mah 7.2v batteries but not sure if I would really need that. Is there any real advantage to them or stay with the 4300mah?

I have a friend who wants to buy the hydro for the 40.00 I paid so down the road she goes... Just wasnt worth putting that kinda money in a "Toy" when ya can have the real deal....

For you SuperVee 27 owners.... Is there any kinda hopups that can be done? Everything is stock except the prop.

Thanks again guys ya dont know how glad I am I joined this forum... I had joined another but no one new anything.. Thanks again :)

for a least time involved, cheap hopup a graupner k48 carbon fiber prop. good for 5-8 mph faster than the stock prop. list price (iirc) about $8! IF Steven has any in stock(doubtful) one could conceivibly get in time for the weekend for a grand total of about $16(with shipping). the stock prop is (imo) the no.2 weakest link(behind the radio) of the whole boat.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in
