    neu 1415 1y vs 1515 1y

Hello, I am running a neu 1515 1y in my sport 20 hydro and its a fast strong motor. I Have a few riggers that will need powerplants soon. I am curious of how many racers/sport runners have used the neu 1415 1y in place of the 1515 1y....in 4s setups. ?
Correct me if I am wrong, but the only difference I have read about is that the 1415 is 36mm can, while 1515 is 40mm can. Rotor is the exact same etc....

Thoughts on this. if it would be a good replacement for the 1515 in a light 4s rigger. such as the jae (the rigger I am thinking of putting it in mainly) and the keps Fe .21, of which I have built many and are light. The 1415 are much cheaper in price. which is what got me thinking of them in the first place.

    Thanks
    Patrick

rotor is the same, windings are near identical.

you will lose some cooling ability- as there is less surface area to come in contact with cooling water. for the price its worth it- and will have little to no perfomance difference. with the quality of neu motors- even IF it does heat up more it wont hurt it.

Thanks...that is my exact train of thought...the motors are soo close in makeup...anyone else use one of these in a hull?
I know a lot of 1/8th buggies are run with the 1415, with great and nearly equal results compared to 1515.

interesting topic. Let us know how the 1415 works out! I know I can't get the 1515 in my Keps rigger with a water jacket. Too big!

          14 vs. 15 series.

The 14 series have just a tiny more resistance because there isn't quite as much copper (smaller winding window). Most practical applications won't see any difference in performance.

Yep, my bud built a custom cowl for his whip and the 1515 with the water jacket is just to wide. He is planning on the 1415 1Y next season and I think he will love it!

Brian..I appreciate the info on the specs of the two motors...good to know. That small difference, is fine by me considering the huge price difference in the two motors. Thumbs up for a 1415 1y on 4s in the riggers!

After a week of searching, The cheapest online store I have found for the 1415 is here:
This website is for sale! impaktrc.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, impaktrc.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

Raydee....I will be curious to see how the 1415 does in your friends whip. Sounds great. I saw your vids of the two whips running, great running hulls for sure!

              Thanks again all

Patrick talk to Steven here since Impact has to order them as well maybe Steve can match or even beat their price on the motor.

Raydee...good idea...I guess I did not think about asking OSE to pre-order them to be built other than impaktrc or any other online store for that matter. Since the 1415 is not built in large quantities to begin with.

I will send a message, asap....
                  Thanks again

Pat if Steven doesn't want to order just one I may be able to get one and ask my bud that said he also may buy one.

I bet the 1Y would make a nice P-OPC [not spec] motor. Hmmm...

I agree....more people would run them..... if we could get them more easily.
I sent steven a personal message about these....just waiting to hear back from him...and with good news, hopefully.

So I heard back from Steven, (hopefully he can chime in here) and he can get the 1415 1ys, for $169. That is a great deal, considering the best price I have found was $179. His only concern was that due to the smaller diameter/less mass thus creating heat issues might be a problem. I understand that but they are the same can size as medusa and feigao and obviously will run cooler than the feigao, and probably cooler than the medusa because neu motors run at such a high efficiency. the 1415 is a 36mm can, so ose water jackets will fit.

I personally will buy one for my keps .21 riggers...they are a tight fit to make fe, since they are nitro based. The smaller can even with cooling jacket will fit much easier. I know Raydee has already mentioned the neu 1515 in whiplash's and 2 lipos in there...is a tight tight fit, so the 1415 might be a better choice for whiplash hulls as well.

Fingers crossed that steven will stock them.

                              Patrick,
thanks for calling up SN, i seems that heat will be the only deterrent in this deal.
