    5.25lb Cat

Well if anyone had any question if a Castle Mamba Maxx esc would be ok to run in a boat, the answer is yes. It has a 100amp continuous rating and works well in this combo. The boat is a Kyosho Hurricane, a heavy ABS catamaran from the 80's I think, which I gutted, except for that neat radio tray and hatch mounting post. Then removed the big gnarly skeg that supported the original driveshaft, smoothed out the bottom with a filler piece, and ran a 0.130 cable to the strut. I made a motormount and attached a Fiego 10xl, the wind that Steve suggested. Thanks Steve, you were spot on when I asked you about this earlier. The hardware is Octura offshore type with the rudder behind the prop, which is a Graupner carbon 40mm k prop. I've run 10 and 11 cell packs so far, going to try 12 cells soon with a 42mm. The motor never got hotter than 105 degrees and the esc ran cold. Not sure of the top speed but it stayed high out of the water on top of a slight chop with a nice roost. Lo to mid 20s, I'm guessing, definitly fast enough to keep it interesting. It's a fun project with room for improvement. The radio is a Spektrum dx2 which works great on the water bty. I don't post often but I read regularly. Thanks all, for the ideas and info....Greg.....

Havent taken any shots yet, would have loved to have gotten some action shots yesterday while running but no camerawoman was available. I'll take a couple pics tomorrow and try to post them.

We have used the Mamba Max in a few boats. They work well. Just keep them cool and DRY!

Here are some pics. The running shot is from last year, it looks alot faster than it was with a brushed 550 and 10 cells. Much better now with the current setup.

Funny you should mention the E-maxx. That is what I pulled the Mamba Max, 10xl combo out of. Wheely popping, universal snapping fun. I need to get the MIP universals before I put that motor back in. What's the current rating on the BK?

I second that, to use deans connectors. They can handle more current. I would also get the water cooling jacket made for that motor. It will cool the motor a lot better because the water makes contact with the metal shell.

the bk warrior is rated 99 amp 20 cell its not bad for $150, yes the mip shafts are a must all aroud the truck, this truck has a 14" wheel base and nothing keeps the wheels on the ground, i tore the diff up so i am putting a spool back in it to run a 9xl 18 cell

Awesome Cat!! I just love those old Kyosho boats. Verry clean build/mod. I would like to see some video. In the picture she looks to be running a tick wet. You maybe able to pick up a few mph by moving the cg back. Hard to say though with out seing her in action.
