You'd better remove the SV27 then.

Is it more prone to flip than the formula fastech or widowmaker?

The Fastech has better electronics. You can transfer them to a different hull if you want. The SV27 is a good boat with a whole lot of tuning tips. But as others have stated, it is prone to flipping at high speeds.

Go get someone who had the sv27 modified with flood chamber, that probably solve your boat flip problem...cheerz

Part of the fun of running the SV is keeping it on the edge of flipping.

Lets face it, if you can learn to drive a SV at speed and keep it on its bottom consistently, then you will have learned a heck of a lot about the driving skills that are required for any boat.

Thats why it will always get my vote as the best starter/ class racer around.

Based simply on your criteria and available choices, I voted for the Formula. I do not own one, but have driven one many times. It is a good fun boat that doesn't flip easily in "smooth" water. They seem to be reliable, but not the fastest boat in their class.

As Dom said, you can always transfer the electronics to a different hull later if you want.

                            .
I disagree with this statement... I've raced a FasTECH and they are every bit as fast, if not faster, than an SV27, given similiar props...

The issue I have with the FasTECH is that it has a sub-surface drive that makes it a bit hard to handle with your standard prop. The boat REALLY lifts out of the water if you don't get the prop right...

However, the BJ26 power system has more KV, than the SV27, and the hull is generally more stable.

Somewhere on this site I had previously posted some pics and some tips on how to make the FasTECH VERY stable and fast running... I ran mine in LSO and won several heats with it... You can too!

i'd suggest the fastech as well. darin, i thought the bj motor was 1500 kv and the sv was 1800?
