There is no positive or negative. A brushless motor operates more like a 3 phase AC motor. Here is the article on Wikipedia.

it does not matter. just hook them up in any order. if the motor spins backwards reverse any 2 wires.

Over amping the ESC or Batteries maybe.

Are you having to "re-arm" the ESC each time?
What ESC are you connected to?
              What battery(ies) are you running?

i would say its not the motor. its sounds likes its a arming issue like diegoboy said. if u are using a pistol tx use a rubberband to hold the throttle at full reverse with all trims and epa set a zero. and reprogram it again.

NEVER NEVER NEVER run a BL motor at near full throttle out of the water without load. There is no good reason to ever do so. It is an almost sure way to cause damage if overdone. The motor may have stopped because it exceeded the ESC's maximum rpm rating. It could be a cogging issue with a cheap ESC (most likely, the ESC has trouble sensing the rotor position at low load). It may have developed a loose magnet. Don't do it again.
