Yep, verbal contracts and deals can be very solid in court.

I also think he knows how the credit cards work about 60 days refunds, etc. If he holds that long they can not back charge him when you complain...but it can still be done.

I would still cc the Better Busi Bur and his own home town Chamber and anything else I could send it to....maybe IRS as well. Time for a good audit at Fine design!

Take heart in knowing that you are not the only one he has scammed. Know too that there are many really good vendors out there, like Offshore Electrics!! Steven is as straight up as they come. He will treat you right.!!

seems to be a bit of a pattern developing here.

I have read the thread, Also have had a lot of dealings With Fine Design They were always posative and as described. Some were a little slow, But I never got screwed. Not saying this is ok. If he promised a 60 mph FE boat and 15 minutes run time I am hard pressed to think it is easily possible provide a customer such a package. But I don't run big power classes.

As there is always 2 sides to every story, I think my expectations of what I was sold and what I got is where the problem is. I currently own an identical gasser that I race with. I was sold a $2200 RTR FE race boat that would "kill my gasser" "Chris's word's not mine" delivered to my door. I recieved a $2700 RTR race boat that wasn't running as promised, "in Chris's mind it is OK to forget about things he forgot to tell you about and just charge you for them" not ok in my book.
don't get me wrong, If a $2200 Race boat RTR would have showed up at my door and I ran it the first time and achieved MID 60's MPH as promised and longer than 2 minutes I wouldn't feel as screwed. Then I would only of complained about run time.
After MULTIPLE attempts and 1 contoller and more batteries we got CLOSER to what I was promised speed wise. again this is NOT RTR in my book. And NOT what I was promised.
Then 1 more failure of another controller. and months later with still no races ran, and a boat that is not together and I am upset.
I NOW understand I will only get 4 mintues run time on my setup. You see, I was told one thing, and recieved another. and charged more for it.

I mean no one any harm, I don't want anyone to lose money, but I also want what I was told. Tell me where I am wrong? I know, buyer beware, should have done more research.
I look back and chuckle cause I remember telling Chris after about a month of jacking with this new boat, I would ship him my Identical 44" cat with a Maston's Marine Full mod Gasser and let him run it and see what a real boat will do. He reassured me everything will be fine and not to worry. Of course Chris, what is to worry about, You have my money. Further more I had to come here to OSE and spend more money on my RTR to try to get it right.
Steven did a fantastic Job and was polite and quick to deliver. I highly recommend Steven and OSE for any newbie's,
The point of this thread was to blow some steam and let any other newbie's out there to do your research and WHO to buy from.

Well, I hope you don't become an investor in the bridge that's for sale!

Two years ago I had tried to order a Maritimo hull from him and he didn't have it in stock .... but it was coming in ---- told him I'd check back no money sent!

Then due some unfortunate circumstances one of the members here at OSE had to sell his twin drive Jolly and I became the proud owner!

                            Glad I did !!!!!

My son & I spent that winter figuring out what to use in it(with a lot of help from the guys here) and we assembled it and it runs real well!
We did it with a Bang!

To be fair, when Chris ran the shop, he was okay, just, the problem is they will not reveal if the item is in stock on their website, you then have to phone and confirm at your expense is it in stock, otherwise they have your cash and you may wait a long time for delivery. They are the only H&M dealers in North America.
