Sweeeet ima jump on that wen I get home from work, what grit sandpaper u recomend to use, I will also try and post a pic of my series adapter I made, but it worked fine with my seaking esc before it went up in smoke so i dnt thinks its that. Also what would cause the wires leading to the motor to get so hot, and pulse like they did.
Thnx 4 all the help so far

grit depends on how bad, maybe 220 - 320. post up the rotor and innards of the motor if you get a chance. Also, check the bearings to see if they got smoked.

Wires getting hot makes me think electrical short. not sure what else to say without more info - need pics of adapter and motor wires/connectors - couldn't have shorted across exposed connectors?

running internal bec or rx pack? on 5s you should run a receiver pack.

one can smoke a motor quite handily by having a motor mount screw that is too long...

I feel ya moto. I smoked a Proboat ESC last week. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=10871
I havent got to test my motor yet. After reading above, I think I will take it apart as well and clean it up if need be. Unfortunatley I did lose my gps and reciever. And the front of the hull blew out. But, its giving me an oportunity to rebuild it the way I want it and often rebuilding and making things better is as good as running it.

Best of luck getting her back in the drink

motohead, I would hope that we can arrive at a why? I would hate for this thread to have a sequel... Please have patience and help us help you help us to determine just what went down.

Two new and great ideas just came out, please answer them:

                1) were you running a rx pack, or using the internal BEC, or using a rx pack without disabling the internal BEC (I have done all of the above with and without disaster)?

                2) did you have the normal mounting screws or did you use longer ones?

Might as well get to the bottom of this while you wait on parts...

Yea u guys are right, The mounting screws are the stock ones tht came with the boat, and yes i did have reciver pack hooked up, i dnt know if the mystery100a has bec so no i didnt disarm it. I think my problem might have been that i grabbed my 3s that was not charged and hooked it up with my 2s that was charged fot initial trial. Thats what i get for trying to get my boat in the water so fast, gott pay more attention next time.
