    new memeber question (esc)

i ahve a black jack 26 that i have run just a few times with a CC hv120 to a Nue 1512 run with 2 thunder power lipos 8000mah and the motor magnets blew up inside the motor and the ecs caught fire???this was the second ecs from castle. the first time i ran it, it smoldered and they said the lipos were not big enough(they were 400mhn) so i bought the 8000 mah? should i change esc or is there a problem with my set up...any help would be great..thanks

You need to give us more info on your lipos. What size etc.But if they are 8000mah,thats a lot of running time for a FE i guess.Mah rates the battery capacity/running time..............let us know. Also below is a BJ26 specific thread, see if you can find more info there.Good luck....

It is the 1.5d which is a 2200kv I think the prop is a octura 438 2 blade. Mesa az

What happened to the first ESC, did the caps blow or did the ESC catch fire, was the motor new at this time?. It sounds like you had a motor problem off the bat or drive train problem

Double check what motor you have there. A 1512 1.5D is 3300 Kv +/-. Way too much for 4S.

Also check the club section for the next Scottsdale club race. We can help you get it sorted out! Nov 15th at McKellips Pond in Scottsdale. (McKellips and Hayden).

Tony if memory serves me correct I think we spoke about this issue by email? When it first blew I think you said you were running (2) 3s packs in series. I explained that it was to much and suggested (1) 3s pack or a different wind of motor. Even on 4s its really to much. It could be run but only for a few seconds and not with that esc, the esc as to small of a amp rating.

out of curiosity, what esc was it? I am just about to get a hydra125, for 2 x 3 cell 5000mah lipos (wired for 22.2v) with an align bl600 motor,1.5:1 gear ratio I would be interested in any advise if this esc is up to the job. Its a scale boat and I want reverse, hence wanting the hydra,
                  many thanks
ps....think I willstart a fresh thread, so apologies for dupication

I think Steven hit it right on the head. Too many volts which spun the motor so fast it shed it's magnets which in turn blew out the esc. OPERATOR ERROR.
