I would like to know also, sooo....... Let me ask another way.
Anyone have any luck or information with the speed controls that somebody else made (Not Hobbyking) and HobbyKing relabeled as the HobbyKing SS Speed Controls?
Hobbyking SS are aircraft controllers. You would have to water cool them yourself. No idea about them. I have never used that one and never heard of anyone else who did either. The price is incredibly cheap. Must be a reason for that. I personally wouldn't trust them.
Its all chinese made products. Doesn't matter what names they are labeled as. They all work for awhile. Then "POP" , and you just throw it in the trash can.
Sailr is right, they are aircraft type. But, I was planning on watercooling mine anyways with an aluminum cooled manifold, then epoxy case them. They have good reviews, but most things do, so who knows.
Someone over at RC universe told me about them, he was running them in boats. I have an order into them right now, but one of the items went on backorder after I added it to my cart so now I am stuck! That is the chances you take when dealing with China. Can't wait, don't play with them.
I do agree, use them and have some spares. For sport running that is fine. If racing or pushing it, go better quality.
If I ever get mine, I will be able to post some results

That can be said for ALL esc's except for the expensive models might last a bit linger before the poof and you cant afford to toss em
an RC rock crawler lost in a sea of boat parts.........
I use the SuperSimple from HK. It is fine, just like the Mystery ones.
I watercool 2 of the 4 that I have, the other are happy uncooled. IF I get them too hot they just shut down for a minute or so and the I can get the boat home. I have had this happen once as a result of a very weird experiment.
I just spec high on my speedies and keep my Amp draw low where I can.
The low cost speedies are fine as long as we appreciate that they are not for records breaking SAW runs. I have cleared 105kmh on all Chinese gear.
See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood
