    Officially... yes.
It's up to the governing bodies to allow or not the use of brushless power in the LSH class. On a club level it does not matter... it's whatever the club decided to use.
The FE Nationals had brushless power (or so I hear) because the officials allowed it.

Something nice to have here guys is some constructive comments, bashing is not going to get anyone anywhere... just a thought.

      Doug,
The Dec. 2009 Roostertail you say? Interesting. That's almost three months from now.

I am now confined to a wheelchair and have been pretty crippled for almost two years. THAT is why I don't get out that much. I also don't belong to IMPBA anymore after working my tail off with Herb to try to help him enact some rule changes only to see him rebuffed. Your attitude is another reason I'm staying in NAMBA. That should make you happy that I won't be in your 'realm'.

And this is working, too. There are a lot of advantages to having Club Level flexibility.

I know it would be nice to have a perfect FE rulebook. But, guess what...clubs will still (and should) deviate from it to fit their particular needs. Oh, and you'll never have a "perfect" FE rulebook. Too many opinions/desires out there to keep it from happening. Mine included.

IMO the best thing to do with spec is to keep it at the club level because of the flexibility factor. We don't know what tomorrow holds and locking in an official rule for spec motors doesn't seem right. And, if a club wants to host a race, they need to use this flexibility to allow motors that will bring in the racers and still maintain a solid level of competition. The spec template is already widely known and has been proven successful. The highest attended classes at the '09 Nat's were LSH and LSO (or another way to look at it: P Sport Hydro and P Offshore with a club imposed motor restriction). Maybe not as "clean" as some people like, but it works. It works very well.

The downside is no records. The upside is we won't have to drag through another rules proposal which always gets heated and is damaging to FE. It's not worth it, and really not needed. There just isn't enough of us FE racers and for those that do race, we have an excellent communication avenue that will continue to foster the FE spec racing program.

Amen Dave, Guy's brought a ton of boats, changed alot of motors but in the end, had a ton of fun and worked into the wee hours of the night, right Mike and Ken? But it was a blast. The rules will never keep up with the tech and newer motors. Any rules on outruners? Duh, got to get me one or two of them suckers for my LSSH or SV27. Gonna make them bad boyz fly down the runway..

Don't bother. Our club LSH boats are running in the low 50s on the oval now with the UL-1 motor/ESC - too fast for 24"-26" race boats to stay on the water reliably. Any faster and we'll need to spend even more $$$ on larger hulls. That means larger hardware too - even more $$$ for a supposedly "cost controlled" class. Oh, and 2P batteries too. It never ends...

I can't think of a single person in our club who ran anything other than 4S1P in their spec boats... PLENTY of mah to run any of the Spec boats for a full mile... Hell, we even were doing full mills with the Nitro guys and didn't break a sweat...

I think we have the Willie Horton thing going on here....seems to me we all have the same objective
Boats don't win races, drivers do.
