need a little help with first boat

Hi there. I just got into the world of r/c boats and bought one at a garage sale. I had a few little bugs to work out, but did get it to run. I took it out for the maiden voyage Friday night. All I can say is it ran. I could walk beside it very easily. So I switched props and tried again. With the second prop it went a bit quicker, but still could keep up with a quick walk. So I was wondering if anyone out there could help in giving me a couple ideas of what I can do to get it going a bit quicker. Second prop is in pictures. Also when using it, red prop, it would go then turn itself into a submarine?

Prop numbers are red prop is OCTURA X431, and the original installed has no numbers.
Enging is apparently an 05 type can motor, no markings or labels : motor is 2"long, and 1 1/2" diameter
Batteries used and supplied are standard 7.2V 1200 mHa ni-cads (off the shelf toy car batteries)

Thank you all in advance for any help.

I have one of those. To be honest, you would have to sink some funds into it to get it where you would be satisfied. The problem starts with the prop being at the angle it is now. You can't really adjust it wiithout doing some work to the hull. Then you would have to invest in some hardware. But, you can start off with a better motor. I would recommend watching the swap shop on this forum for some good deals on a better boat that would fit into your price range.
