I've used 20 gauge Magnet (motor rewind) wire to secure wires together for soldering. The solder won't stick to it, & can be removed afterwards, leaving a less bulky connection for a shrink tube insulation covering. I still prefer using a sleeve made from brass tubing, though. Tried to include a photo, but the download failed.
Here ya go Nick.
I bind the wires together with 18 ga. solid strand copper wire then solder them with a good hot iron. Get the job done and get out.
If you need the wires to bend back over the control as I did in this case, keep that in mind before you strip and solder them. Make sure all the wires are the same length before you start.
Sorry for the dark pics, I'm no Jim Clark.
Hope this helps.

so now if i have this right..if i want to run 6s1p I would just take one of my 6s lipos and wire it to one set of red and black on the esc and leave the other set of black and red unhooked (but protected)?
and for 6s2p I would take my two 6s lipos and wire each separate packs to there own red and black leads off the esc
and for 12s1p I would take my two 6s lipos and wire them in series and then hook them to one set of the black and red off the esc and leave the other set of red and black not wired to anything (but protected)
this is all correct after I make the wire mod that Doug shows above
have i got it?

Im about to do it tonight, so if anyone can post why you just cant run the wires seperated pos & neg going to each battery not connected together like in the picture above would be great
OK,,,Stupid question, why can't you just separate them. I have mine hooked up that way for the past 2 years with no issues?????
I don't recall seeing anything in Castles instructions either?? Maybe I'll have to go and re-read them!
Same here Doby. I was running this boat like that for the season and no issues at all. This is 4S2P. It was installed before I got this boat by the previous owner. They had this set up running for a while also with no issues.

Hey Fellas,
Page 1 Castle Hydra instructions.
"Make sure and connect the entire battery pack to both input wire sets of the Hydra 240.
Do not connect half of the battery pack to one input, this will lead to operating problems from potential voltage / current imbalances."

Could be taken also as connect one set of pos and negs to one battery and the other set to the other battery. As long as you run with both sets connected you will be OK, If you only run with one battery connected, then there could be issues.
Castles instructions are a bit ambiguous on this matter.
