    Delta Force Sniper 45 Questions

Hello to anyone out there who can give me some vital info on the Delta Force Sniper 45 hull. I was thinking of going with a Neu 2230 1y(725kv) and powering it with 12s lipo and a Castle Hydra HV 240. Is this setup too insane or would it work well?

If this would work well, is the Hydra HV 240 up to the job of handling the Monstrous Neu 2230?

If not, just what speed control out there COULD handle this setup?

How about prop recommendations for this setup?

Like I said, ANY info that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated because I'm still sort of a newbie at all this electrical stuff.

    Thanx,

for that many cells the ESC I would personally choose is a shultze fut-xl-40.160WK , I think from memory they can do up to 14s.

A couple of friends have run these in high amp draw setups and they are very much up to the task. I plan to buy one soonish for my 1/8 scale Atlas Van Lines kits I have just had cut.

I assume you are sport running given the 12S set up. I agree that I would go with a Schulze over the CC for that boat. There is at least 1 other running on 12S on OSE.

10S with that same motor would be a very nice, reasonably fast (high 60's maybe low 70's with the right prop) and you could race it too.

Beyond that, if you are new to FE boats I would most strenously suggest that you start with something else besides a 10S or 12S 2P set up.

Get a DF 33 or DF 32Storm hull and run it on 4S2P and go well into the 50's and have a blast while learning the ropes.

The Sniper on 10S or 12S is absolutely NOT a good choice for a first FE boat. Even if you have tons of nitro or gas experience.

        JLG,

I would take Bill's advice especially if you're new to the hobby particularly FE. I have a DF 32 Storm and it is a blast. I am running 5s with an Etti150 esc, Neu1515 motor setup for sport running. The DF Storm hull has the same deep V as the Sniper but scaled down of course. And it handles chop real well.

I had a Storm and I agree, it is basically a mini-Sniper and is a great way to get into FE boating. Set it up with a 4S2P and a 1521/1.5D and if you get bored with it then you need to find something else to do!!!

Plus, take my word for it, buying, charging and maintaining a 10S or 12S boat is no picnic and not for the FE new guy. 4S is way easier to do and a WHOLE lot cheaper.

I am building a Sniper 45 on 12S. I was warned against using a HV240 on such a set up.
If you deside to build one be prepared to spend some $
I hope you don't mind posting some pictures here. I was planning on making a build thread.
Here is mine at current status of the build.

                Df 45

                Hi Anbjorn,
                Nice build so far.
Have you considered the CG balance with the motor so far forward.
This boat is touchy on too much forward weight and will bow steer violently.
I think my CG is approximately 15" from the rear of the boat, but I will check on that. If you have not already done so you may want to set the batteries and gear into the boat the way it will be when it is complete so that you have the balance pretty close.
Also please PM me on the Schulze 300, I need to talk to you about that.
                Thanks,
                Ken Haines

Yes I have considered the CG. The only thing missing when doing so was the flotation, prop, bullets, and wires between esc and motor.
As it is I can adjust the CG between 32% (maybe 31%) and up to 35% without too much hassle. How many inches that is I don't know. I can measure it when I come home from work.
Bellow 32% or above 35% I will probably need to add weight.
One thing I have found is that these hulls have a hook in the ride surface.
Mine has between 1 and 2mm
If that is left unatended I can clearly see that it will bow steer even at any CG.
This is the next thing I need to take care of after reinforcing the inside of the boat.
All inside glass work should be done before starting on the outside.
                    PM sent.
                    Thanks
