    SAW cooling

Do SAW boats really need cooling for the motors? I know Oval or Sport but SAW is only 1 or 2 runs and thats it .
PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
    H&M 1/8 Miss Bud 73 mph
    Chris Craft 16 mph

I have never bothered to cool any of my SAW motors, in two passes they don't get too hot. Any water pickup is drag that slows the boat down - not what you want when going for a record.

SAWs are the Straight Line Race event that happens every now and then, it's a race against the clock and yourself, since you running alone thru the speed traps.
Now, if you were asking about the meaning of the word "SAW"... come up with a good one and let me know, eheheheheh.

Depends on the lake . Like I posted in your other thread, Legg has the lights on either shore & the lake is over 100 feet wide in the trap area.

At Legg the "gates" are close to 300 feet across Part of the trick to a fast pass is knowing the line to drive to make sure you are really only covering 330 feet of the course.

For instance, at Legg in theory you could drive a line that is close to 440 feet long, which will give you a much slower time since the math is based on the perfect 330 foot line.

Bill. I was expecting a 50 foot gate but I am way off! I got the 1/16th mile 330 feet thing down but the width is way too much. I would have guessed that the one with the straightest line would win without any steering corrections. I assume the lights have to be land based which would give a wider entrance and exit depending on the width of the lake. Do you have a video of a SAW race so I can see what i'M TRYING TO FATHOM?

The distance between the lights at either end is really sort of irrelevant. At Legg one light for each end is on the shore and the other is across the lake at about 300 feet.

Do a search ehre and on YouTube and you'll find lots of SAWS video.
