    2s Motor options?

Well Iv about decided on a boat Id like to build, after numerous thoughts on a PTSS45 and Whip ect. I believe firmly on building a Nice Etti rigger, after seeing how fast they are on only 2s power, and great handling performance at 50mph... I want one, plus the expenses to building a fast high power 6s Hydro can get pricey, and I want to keep the budget on this boat build under $900.00.

I really would like to see the boat able to bump low 50's in wide open throttle, but also need a nice long run time, if possible, I know that the video of 4-5 Demon's running ovals on youtube ran wide open on 2s for four minutes+ in the High Highe 40's low 50's at times.

Can someone label me a list of 2s motor option's.... Ill go for a Neu motor, or a Lehner Basic of choice.

This is the selected setup I have thought about so far, please let me know if Ill be off here on my choice.

    - Neu 1512 1D 4875kv - + - Hydra 240 - + - Octura (x432/435)- 2s1p 7500mah+

    OR-

    - Neu 1509 1.5D 4500 - + - Hydra 240 - + - Octura x438- x440.. 2s1p 6500 mah+

Please Help me out. Thanks !

If it's jsut 50's you want, get the UL-1 motor ESC combo, I am driving a DH over that right now... just a suggestion...
Hey man, You mean over kill on 2s with a 1512 huh? Well were not talking over heating here right, are these props iv picked out to large?

Will I see more higher than 50's with a 1512?

I was thinking maybe a hydra240 was a bit much of an esc for 2s power here... or is this ok with a high amp draw setup?

I think you are going to see more the 55+ with any of those setups, even the UL-1 should give you strong 50's.
The Hydra 240 are a good way to go, you should stick with it.

Thanks for the added advice man, I appreciate it. Im looking at a nice high 50mph rigger, Its insane how much power and speed that 2s will get you with the right setup, And still have alittle extra cash, a nice 35" and up hydro on 6-8s was going to be extremely expensive.

Iv never built a Rigger before so Ill need more help than just the setup plans here.

Iv been trying to figure out exactly how to build the drive setup on this hull, Iv notice a few threads there's about two or three different ways to setup you rudder and strut.

I have seen the drive shaft run directly from the rear of the hull ... and another where the motor was mounted side ways and the strut bracket was mounted to the far right side.

Im going with a Hughey .125/3/16" cable and an Octura 5mm*.130 coupler.

I have also decided on the hardware Fine Design has for the strut and rudder kit for $69.99.

Alot depends on how much room you have to work with. I believe the Demon was designed for NAVIGA Hydro 1 which means a 2S1P 5000-5500 pack and a motor between 4500-5500kV. It looks like a very cool little boat.

It's only 25.5" long and I think the motors in the video were 28mm diameter. I'm not sure the 15 series Neu will fit. If you want to run 5 minutes, you want to keep the current to 50-55 amps average to not kill the cells. That's ~400 watts, consider the 1110/1y or 1112/1.5d. If a 15xx series will fit, 1506/1y, 1506/2d or 1509/1.5d. Those are plenty of motor for that power level. A hydra 120 should be enough for this power level.

Thanks man for the input as well. Im really thinking the 1512 will fit, but getting the motor mount setup correctly, using 5500mah + will be tricky in this hull, I wish I was able to slip a nice Max Amps 8000mah pack in this 25" hull, honestly Ill probably buy the hull first along with the drive setup and go from there.

There is a thread around somewhere where he explains what motors are being used...
I THINK it was a 540 of some sort.

Nate that hardware is what I have on my viper II, it's ok, but the pole that sticks out is held by on little screw, make sure it's very secured in there so you don't lose anything along the way, but it always finds a way to spin and get the rudder a bit off... I find gluing too permanent in this case.

Iv seen an 8000 mah pack from a website running Stadium trucks, and the 8000mah packs are not all that big, but what ya think the biggest packs Ill get in this hull is?

Also, Iv used this same Hardware on my first Miss Vegas build back in 2006, it worked well with no problems, all though I did pour on the Lok-tight in that miniature thread hole they provide haha.

Brian's Raptor rigger kit is reaching speeds of 65mph using UL-1 power plant. I am currently building this kit
