    6mm Bullets or Deans

    This is'nt a boat question, But I know some of you have the Castle Monster Max or similar motor/esc combo and I was wondering.... I purchased a savage flux(comes stock with a Castle MM ESC and 2200Kv motor) and a hyperion EOS0615i duo charger. Also ordered some 6mm bullets. problem is, I don't have enough 6mm bullets to wire all four battery packs I have, and the charger, and the truck. But I have plenty of deans connectors to make it work. I am going to order some 6mm bullets but it's going to take a few days and I don't want to have to wait....

    So anyway, are the deans going to be able to provide enough current for my needs? Was thinking I might just say screw it and save the 6mm bullets and use the deans I have.

    Thanks.

    EDIT: Not sure if it makes much of a differance, but I am use Zippy Flightmax 30C 5000Mah Lipos with that setup.

    6mm bullets all the way but since you have the others and it is a truck then you are fine with Deans.

      THE 5.5mm CONNECTORS HAVE MORE "STICKING POWER" AND 38% MORE SURFACE FOR CARRING CURRENT THAN THE 6mm I HAVE STANDARDIZED ON 5.5mm. I HAD A PHASE WIRE COME LOOSE WITH 6mm AND BURNED UP A 180 ESC. DON

        The 6mm I am using are almost impossible to get unstuck. Mine are from a company called Amass. They stick together so tight I even thought about changing them.

          On the W.S. Deans website they state that the Ultra connectors have the same resistance as an equivalent length 12 ga. wire. I've read that they can carry 100+ amps. But I would say 70 to 80 amps would be ok. I'm sure the resistance goes up with useage. But that probably happens with all connectors.

            Yeah I ended up finding some locally and soldering all the 6mm's on. They are HARD to plug and unplug! Wow, makes me wonder if I should have just left the Deans.... Maybe they will breakin?

              bullets = win

              deans = fail

              personally I wouldn't use deans in anything you plan to draw more than 50 amps from. Thats just my opinion.

                Crimp them down very slightly so they're at a usable tension but still contacting firmly and evenly. Bullets are the best!

                  Well, your battery can deliver 150A continuous. Your Neu 2200 KV can demand way more than that easily. Your deans ultras are rated at 60A! Go bullets man. In the mean time, grab your infra red thermometer and check your connector temps... If they're getting over 150 F you're gonna start melting shrink wrap, deans connector housings, and solder joints in that order.

                  Deans get worse over time with pitting too.
