The Whiplash boats are by far the most popular wooden hull kits...electric or gas. I here Brain @ Blazer Marine may be releasing a new FE version Whiplash.

OOOOOOOH BOY ...... I spoke way too soon. My unsinkable, beat it to death, bestest boat in the whole world just sunk to the bottom of the lake. I flipped it finally, and apparently the drain holes i drilled to let water out from one chamber to another and the drain out the drainback valves worked fantastic all this time untill it was upside down and she filled up with water. She slowly sank 6 feet down. I had to go home to get my son and a raft , Pay him $20.00 !#%^@#$%@ dollars and go back to get it. Everything still works eccept one battery puffed. Even the GPS works fine! So i think to myself how can i prevent this from happening again. I KNOW !!!! I will use spray foam and pump some into the sponsons and transom. Problem was i coudent see how much i was spraying in ...that is ofcoure untill i came out a 6 am this morning to go to the lake and find the hull warped real bad where ever i sprayed to much of it. It was a special moment turning on the lights to see that! LOL. I am such a dumb ass. O well back to ebay for a new hull. Good Times LOL

I built the Tomyann from memory and from photos taken a few years ago from where it now sets (in a pretty sad state) in a warehouse outside of Orlando. The model has a Leaner 2280 power plant with 10S/1P battery packs. Its best run is 55 MPH on NI-MH cells. Have yet to install the new lipo packs.

Putting things together on or in a boat you have never run or had, to me is building it..

None of us are "building" or "assembling" boats! I've been at this for 20+ years, and these are toys folks! Ask my wife, she'll tell you! Seriously, my late relatives WERE boat builders and would probably have been somewhat offended if I told them we built a boat....oh and by the way, it's 24" long.

Kudos to those that design these things from scratch! Especially the scalers! Amazing details that I can barely comprehend. Definitely a lot of talent, experience, and time involved. Most importantly, a huge sense of pride, craftsmanship, and appreciation for our hobby.

Still "working" on my Vacu pickle! I can say that, right??

Right you are, Douggie. It would have been easier just to look up "Build" in a dictionary.

Oh dear, Douggie has a tantrum again.
This thread was going to end up in a build vs assemble discussion soon.
I build from scratch and some assemble from a kit, and then some take a hull and fit it out to run. All are equal.

The OP stated that rtr was disqualified and from there is was fair game.
If a guy buys a mm hull and all the bits he is no less than me who make a hull.

This is a hobby and to some is a sport where it becomes a little competitive and then for a few is a passion where records are at stake.

Let's keep all of this in perspective chaps.

I design and build. You might mod a rtr. I'll run on the pond with you, so long as we have radio separation.
                      See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

I have to say. Mean Machine is it for me because so far that is my first build, and it was fun!
                        Next either a DF33 or a Sport 40 Hydro on a budget..
                        I'm thinking 580 for the Sport 40

My "favorite" changes all the time. I really really like my SprintCat .40/.80 running on 6S, but I almost never get to race it. So I guess the boat I enjoy the most today is my P Sport Hydro, an Aeromarine Sport .21 with Neu 1521/1.5D and 4S2P/4400mAh FlightPowers. I get to race it twice a month against some of the fastest boats in the country, and sometimes I get to win.....

                                Favorite FE Boat

Hi, Although I have a Titan 29 Ammo Powered Mono which has given me a lot
of fun, My favorite FE Boat is the 30" Scratch built Catamaran. The plans were
given to me by Jesse J. It is powered by a UL-1 power system and has won three
races for me in P-Spec Offshore. It is fast, handles perfectly and rides at the
proper Angle of Attack. It is also very reliable and honestly I thought I could never
build this from scratch. Attached photos. Regards
